Off-road fixie curious? The only mandatory thing for this ride is a fixed gear mountain bike. It'll be off-road and through many rocky sections. It's a good idea to have at least a front brake and maybe a bash guard. The pace will be moderate with some goofing around on the tough sections of trail. We'll pass through the Salamander trail fo' sho.
The fixie aspect of it ramps up the difficulty into the exxxtreeeeeme range, but the emphasis will be on fun. I expect and welcome people that have never done off-road fixie all the way up to folks that think this is old hat. Good attitude required.
If you need some help with fixie mountain bike setup, you can check out 63xc.com. They have a good article on how to make a disc fixie cog:
http://www.63xc.com/jasom/milldisc.htm You can also set up a freewheel hub "suicide" style (which involves using Loc-Tite and a BB lockring), but this needs to be way in advance of the ride so that your cog stays in place.
If you need help with setup, or have questions about the ride, please contact me using the info above.
