Trailwork This Weekend: Schaeffer Farms (MD), Conway Robinson (VA) and Wakefield (VA)

Trailwork Events This Weekend: (Click Trail Name for Full Info & Directions)

The Bike Lane in Burke, VA (www.thebikelane.com) is the proud sponsor of MORE’s 2007 Spring Trail Work Series. By volunteering to help out our local parks, you can enter to win some great prizes including a new frame or bike!

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Wakefield Park
IMBA Trail Solutions and Rich Edwards will return to Wakefield this week to construct Phase III on the Power Line Hill. There is plenty of work to be done since weather cancelled three workdays last week.
Meet at the Wakefield Recycle bins at 9am Saturday and/or Sunday - March 24 and 25.... Directions below to the Audrey Moore Rec Center at Wakefield Park.
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/maps/mooremap.htm

The construction portion will concentrate on the Power Line Hill. Phase I
will extend straight out into the field for a Switch back climb back to the
top. The old truck trail will be converted into a series of 12 or 13 banked
turns that essentially will be a Slalom run to the bottom. The goal will be
to maintain the road so that utility trucks can still climb it but give
riders single track that is machine cut, safer and more appealing way than
the road to descend.

Bring: Gloves, water, snack food, a good attitude and a strong back. For
Thursday and Friday you'll need to bring lunch. Saturday there will be pizza
provided by The Bike Lane. Cliff Bars both days.

Where to go: Look for Larry or Mike at the top of the service road by the
piles of rock or down at the bottom of the power line hill (Where the Phase
III construction will be).

Bring work boots or sturdy shoes, work gloves (an old pair of cycling gloves will do), plenty of water, and lunch or a snack. MORE and local land managers will supply the tools, but feel free to bring your personal favorite (shovel, pick, metal rake, hand saw, etc.). We’ll also have a stash of Clif Bars on hand, thanks to IMBA and Clif Bar! Some workdays will have lunch donated so we encourage volunteers to RSVP to the work day contact in order to plan for food, tools, supplies, and in case of last minute changes.

NOTE: Trail workdays begin at 9:00 AM unless otherwise noted.
