12/10/06 - Slayin' Salamander

This Sunday, 12/10, meet at the Sand Flats parking lot*. Since I've felt crappy lately (including calling in the last two days), this won't be a fast-paced ride. That said, it won't be an easy ride either. I'll go at what I think is a Punga-Wocky pace if that helps. The only problem is I've always been uninvited or kicked out of their groups, so I'm not really sure how fast they go.

Salamander is very technically demanding riding in most spots, with rocks on top of rocks, sprinkled with rocks, dusted with more rocks. Mmmmm mmmmm mmmm mmmm good! This is one of my favorite trails in the whole of Merryland.

We'll slay the EVIL Salamander rock outcropping and make it to the outlook. We'll play it by ear from there (we can decide as a group which way to go back to the cars.)

Starting at 10, and going for ~3 hours.

Come out if you're comfy riding Gambrill without doing too much walking (excluding hills.) Know that it is more technical than Gambrill, but you want to see what the FredShed "goodness" is all about. Bring a camera and be prepared to laugh (if someone else falls) or cry (unless it's you.)

* - The Sand Flats parking lot is on Gambrill Park Rd, north of the Hamburg Rd intersection. You'll also cross Delauter Rd and soon after you'll see the gravel parking lot on your right. Check this map for visualization.
