Be Part of the Wakefield Revoultion - Volunteers Needed to Help IMBA Renovation

being a volunteer makes you smile

Tired of spending your weekend working on the Wakefield trails only to have the next rain storm wipe out all evidence of your effort? Here's your chance to make a difference. IMBA Trail Solutions has been contracted by the Fairfax County Park Authority to redesign the trail system at Wakefield Park. As always, the IMBA goal is to make multi-user trails that are more sustainable, environmental friendly, and FUN! For a sample of IMBA's past work at Wakefield, check out the singletrack between the fireroad and tennis courts.

What: Trail workdays
Date: Saturday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, March 5
Time: 9:30am-1:30pm, both days

The current renovation is an ongoing project which will start on February 15 when IMBA representatives survey the trail areas and, with input from park management and MORE, draw up plans for the new trail system. This planning phase will go from February 15th through the 21st. MORE is currently soliciting the local mountain biking community for recommendations. Email your recommendations to Joe Penano, the MORE Wakefield Trail Liaison (penano@gmail.com). Trail work will begin immediately after this design period.

MORE will hold two workdays at Wakefield, February 26 and March 5 to help complete this phase of the renovation. Your help is much needed. For more information contact:

Joe Penano, MORE Wakefield Trail Liaison, penano@gmail.com

Scott Scudamore, MORE Trail Boss, mtbmore@comcast.net

Thomas Kennedy, Wakefield Park Volunteer Coordinator, Thomas.Kennedy@fairfaxcounty.gov
