My floor pump just busted. Its the Joe Blow model. I'm looking for a really tough one. The kind that will last forever and is rebuildable. Does anyone out there know what I should get?

My old Nashbar pump (chromoly body/chamber, cast base) is 15 years old and still pumpin'. Dunno if they're still available though.

I too am underwhelmed with my two Joe Blows that have crapped out after a couple of years. I have a Silca Pista that has lasted for a very long time.

I dunno if all Joe Blows are created equal, by my Joe Blow Pro is still blowin' strong. I've had it a couple of years now.

My Silca road pump has been going strong for ~12 years.

I bought a Blackburn (top end) floor pump a few years ago that went in about 2-3 years. I still use it, but the high/low pressure switch doesn't do much anymore, so it just works to get my mtb pressure up to 35 and that's about it (works for me). In other words, I give Blackburn a big thumbs down on their high end floor pumps.

dunno about the 'pro' model.

I won a plastic Planet Bike Comp pump... sorry composite 3-4 years ago that works great. If that ever goes I'd look at getting another or better model from them, says they are rebuildable.

http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=17&item=PFP%2D4I think this is the one I have. It wasn't $100 though. Maybe $60? Its very nice. I got it to replace a Performance house brand pump that quit working. I've only had it a few months so I can't vouch for long term reliability, but the construction quality is excellent.

i have a joe blow pro -- it crapped out on me but it's rebuildable. apparently you have to regulary lube the barrel otherwise the o-ring will disintegrate. rebuild kit was about $6.

What do you lube it with? I should probably do that since I never have.

I just used whatever chain lube I had, Rock n Roll or ProLink Gold.

Don't confuse price with quality. That's what I did with my Blackburn. I figured since it retailed for $100 it must be the best. (I worked in a shop at the time and did not pay that) It was not money well spent.

I'm not saying the Park is bad. It's probably what I'll go with next, but don't judge the quality based on price. It's often misleading.

I have the Park Pro pump. It works well. I have had it for about a year with no issues. The Presta engagement is a little different than some other pumps, but it seems to be pretty effective.

I recently bought a Performance brand floor pump for work/car. I am please by the quality of it for the $29 on sale I paid.

I tend to buy the pumps with the pressure gauge at the top, because I can't SEE the ones that are down by the floor, so that limited my choices a bit. Joe Blow Pro had the gauge at the top, but someone at a shop recommended the Park, so I went with that instead.

We've had this pump for several years and it is the best pump I've owned. I agree that price does not equal quality when it comes to pumps, but when/if this pump dies, I plan on getting another one. I can't speak to the other models, but this one has been great.
