Do any of you happen to know if any local shops keep any of the following bikes in stock:
- Kona PaddyWagon
- Bianchi San Jose
- Redline 925
- Raliegh One Way
- Van Dessel CRB
- On One Pompino
- any other SS/Fixed commuter-ish bike (must have rear eyelets for rack/fender).

They all seem to size out quite different from my Cannondale, so I'd like to try most of them before committing, if possible.

I know Pedal Shop in Ashburn sometimes stocks Redline, Kona, and On One, but they don't usually keep many in stock (at least not road bikes).

I'm pretty sure CityBikes stocks the Redline 925, or at least has. Couldn't tell you about the others, sorry.

Spokes in Vienna stocked the Raleigh Rush hour, at least they did a year ago.

I would add the Specialized Langster to that list. There are several dealers in the area (Contes and Citybikes). Don't know if either stock it.

I don't think the Rush Hour or Langster have rack/fender braze-ons. This bike will be used through the winter, so those are required (at least the rack, as I need to carry clothes and I'm tired of wearing a backpack).

Count the Raleigh out. No eyelets for anything, unless they've changed for this year. That's a straight up track frame.

Yeah, Raleigh has two bikes in this category - the Rush Hour, which is a track frame, and the One Way, which is a commuter/touring single-speed (canti brakes, fender eyelets, etc). I'm interested in the One Way.

Check out the new Specialized Tricross Singlecross. Its kinda like the Bianchi San Jose I believe. I know we carry them at Spokes Etc, City Bikes probably has them too. I know I want one.

Check the large pic here (http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/2007/bikes/LNG_GL_Brushed_w_Blk.jpg).

Keep in mind that you can always put a seatpost-mounted rack on the bike if there are no eyelets.

Not ideal, as they tend to be weight-restricted (usually no more than 16 lbs) and these racks tend to have a higher center of gravity than eyelet-mounted racks, but do-able.

The change over from 07 to 08 is happening right now, so stocks of everything are limited. We have some of the TriCrosses in stock (JoeF and his brother came in and bought one last week) at Citybikes. Not sure what to tell you about the Redlines. I saw one or 2 in earlier this year, but haven't seen them lately. No more

Then again, I've only worked there a couple of Sundays so far, so I'm the newb around the shop.

Any chance you'll be getting any smaller sizes in?

I might be able to stretch onto a 54, but I think would probably need a 52.

Are you thinking any Surly bikes? I have a Cross Check and it's awesome for commuting!

i have a 54cm cross check - it's set up with a flat bar and gears, but i like the versatility of the frame. i'm running a 42 front and a 36 in back. still room for more tire or less with fenders.

let me know if you want to take it out for a spin.

I know that Bike Club in Falls Church had the 925 in stock a couple months back. I bought a set of wheels that came off a 925 he sold with an upgraded set of wheels.

Just checked the geometry on the Crosscheck - holy long top-tube Batman! I'd need a 46cm to be near the same length as my road bike. That can't be right, can it? It doesn't appear to be a compact frame?

Avalon Cycles in Elkridge, MD (Patapsco) had a kona paddy wagon in stock last time I was there.

I just got a Crosscheck but can't remember if it's a 46 or a 48 (I'll check when I get home from work). I'm 5'2" tall and it fits me pretty well. You're more than welcome to try mine out if you think that's the size you need.
