 Just read about this on another forum:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=66128&page=1&pp=25

Apparently Kryptonite U locks, and many others with cyclinder shaped keys can be compromised with a plastic Bic pen. that's right, a $.10 pen can can open a nice expensive lock. Read the link above for more details. Scary huh?

Yeah Kryto released a statement that they are currently working on a fix for this problem.
I believe that people with certain more expensive versions of their locks will get the new lock bar piece for the exchange of their old one.

Kryptonite=BAD It's not just them. In fact, it's the type of lock and used by many manufacturers. Check MORE sponsor City Bikes web page (http://www.citybikes.com) for an exchange program. They are taking care of things.

I'm just going to take this as an opportunity to re-iterate that any lock can be defeated. The purpose of a lock is to deter the more casual...and delay the more serious people who want to take your stuff. Hopefully -- the delay will be long enough to draw attention or let you return.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. A roadie friend of mine sent me emails about the same. It also made the Washington Post today...and my son tells me it's also on http://www.pinkbike.com (He says they also have a video there, showing someone break into one w/a bic pen in short order. Who woulda thunk!?
