Hello,
I am using the Rockshox Dart2 fork on my Scott Scale 70 bike and since a few miles (I got the bike since may) over uneven but hard surface (for example uneven country streets or village streets) I feel that the fork is slack. I can feel this even when I pull the front-break and joggle the handlebar but the headset is ok. I can localize the problem exactly on the fork. I know that the Dart2 isn't the best at all but I drove only 500 Miles with the Bike (its just my alternative bike).

And I ain't shure whether this is normal or not.

But I cannot find any option to configure on the fork or to solve the problem.

Hey Cotton:

My guess is that, unfortunately, this is not something you'll readily be able to correct; apparently, that fork has no damping adjustments. There should be a dial to preload the coil, but that's it as far as tunability.

Double check the bearing preload in your hub as well. Good luck..

Hi, the Dart 2 has got some adjustment switch, but the first problem: The switch is very very firm and I cannot turn it easy on simple handpower (I have to use a pliers or something like that) I think it this is because I never turned on the switch since I have this fork.

The Dart 2 has got two switches - on the right site you can turn it off and on the left site there is the certain adjustment switch.

I am going to try turning on the switch - maybe I can feel some difference.

Looking at the specs..

It may have a "turnkey lockout", which would be located atop the fork's RIGHT leg. This is most likely a nominal (ie on/off) dial of some kind.

The coil preload (which will probably be a dial that you can turn 'round a few full turns or so) should be located atop the forks LEFT leg. This will adjust the degree to which the coil inside the leg is compressed prior to any outside forces.

What do you mean when you say "the fork is slack" ? There's definitely going to be some flex in the stanchions (the upper fork legs) when you grab the front brakes, especially on this particular fork. What you're experiencing does not necessarily mean there's a "problem", especially if your other bike has a higher end fork..

Thanks a lot!

Meanwhile I think there is no problem. I testet all you've recommended to test.

When I grab the front-break and pull/push the bike on the handlebar little bit into the front and back (some kind of shaking the bike) than I can exactly localize that there where you can see the red dart on the picture is just a little bit "slackness". As soon as the fork plunges down there is nothing, it's all firm and there isn't any slackness anymore.

I checked the 500$ FOX fork that's on my brothers bike and there is the same effekt so I think it's indeed ok.

Also my dealer said that this is normal. So I guess it's ok.

Yup yup. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about now. Indeed- this bit of flex is common to almost all suspension forks. I think Lefty's might be an exception.. ?
