About 50 feet up trail from the short, steep rooty section as you are coming back to the picnic tables via "Stu's Loop". Going by the map at the trial head kiosk, it is almost right where the skull and crossbone icon is for the downhill. It is on the right side of the trail as you are coming down, a 20'-30' tall dead tree with some broken honeycomb at the foot of it.
Found it during the 8am race today as riders flew by and agitated them, one rider got stung in the face and went down, then I got stung in the ankle as I ran in to get him and his bike away from the nest (I was a volunteer).
Also, another rider during the 10am race mentioned there were some bees at the top of the switchbacks after you pass the picnic tables/skinnies. I can't confirm that one though.
