Greetings, all. I'm guessing the Forum activity will pick up as the rain falls down . . .may be pretty messy for the next week with a wet forecast :(

Question: anyone know an "official" status on the CCT? I found a link to another forum user's site that has a story: "Fairfax Cross County Trail is Apparently Complete".

I thought this was a long way from being completely linked &/or ride-able?! I know the stretch from Rte. 236 just north of Wakefield is pretty rough (some of it's rideable, but a few bridges have been washed out) until you reach the paved portion (& who wants to ride that?!) at King Arthur Dr. I've followed it south of Accotink, but it seems to end/disappear at Old Keene Mill Rd.

Please post accordingly if you're "in the know" ;)

Ride on!

Hey Brad,

I went back to check my facts after seeing your post. I clearly misinterpreted the news from Fairfax Trails & Streams website. Here is what they said on their site:

"NEW SECTION OF CCT CLEARED IN OAKTON
On Saturday June 26, seven volunteers completed the final missing section of the Cross-County Trail between Vale Road and Lawyers Road. This section once (during Cross County Hikes) required a dangerous hike along Vale Road. It is now it is entirely in woods between Miller Heights Road and Great Falls Park. The CCT also has a new crosswalk at Vale Road"

I don't think it is well worded, but I should have caught it anyway. I will update the article on the site.

Thanks for keeping me honest!

Hey Graham (incidentally, that's my son's name too!) :)

No problem; in fact, I tried to ride a small stretch of the aforementioned yesterday, from Americana Park (in Annandale) towards the 236/495 overpass; it's a mess. I really wish they WOULD make some progress on this thing. The site yours linked to, with the maps of the CCT, even has some notations in the southern section below Old Keene Mill Rd. in Springfield about "deep water, no crossing"...I envision wading through chest-deep water, bike held overhead, like soldiers wading through a rice paddy or something . . . ;)

Anyway, maybe someday I'll see you out on the CC Trail (or another one, in the meantime!).
