There was a swarm of yellow jackets on the race course. Our group had a flat there and took about six stings between the three of us.
As you leave phase II, turn left on the fire road, and into the creak trail for the first time. They were swarming around a log off of the fire road.

thanks for the information.. How close to the trail are they, left or right as you follow the race arrows?

They were right on the trail. I believe their 'cloud' was basically half on the trail, half off. But I didn't stay to properly evaluate the situation.
They were on the right as you follow the course, between the fireroad and the creek trail.

I'll go out today and check it out. Hopefully the fireroad is wide enough for the bees and riders if we stay to the left. If I can spot their hole...I'll take em out,

the area with the yellow jackets has been marked with caution tape, 2 cones and a sign...stay on the left side of the trail and don't stop in that area.
