So I checked out some of the newer trails by the power lines last night and it was very clear that a dirt bike has been using them unless one of you guys are running a 4" tire. There were enough tracks that it appeared that it was more than a one time thing.
Were dirt bikes used when building the trail to carry stuff?
Most of the tracks led to the field that goes off to Black Hill road I think so I'm guessing its one of those houses to the West of the park. Probably not worth saying anything yet, but if the liaison is listening, might be worth noting.
Just FYI,

Are you talking about the part of Field Crest Spur where the man hole cover is in the middle of the trail? I have often seen wide tracks there. I figured it was a lawn mover or something since its right by they maintanance area.
On another note, they did clean the trees crossing the reroute of Cabin Branch Trail late last week some time. It looked like they used some vehicles in that area.

Take Field Crest spur across Black Hill road to the west side of the park and go by the maintenance shed / house on the right. The new trails are on the left and right of this power line trail. The one to the right is especially marked.
They are single tracks so it had to be made by a motorcycle.

Last Tuesday (May 8) I saw 2-3 sport motorcycles in that area. I didn't think anything of it. They may be riding the dirt access 'road' the sewer installation guys placed at the north east side of the park...immediately left as you come off of W. Old Baltimore Rd. This access road follows the stream between the park and the interstate. I have no idea how far it goes...but I do want to explore it sometime. I've heard there's an old rusted farm truck and a beaver dam up in there!

So I'm cruising around the Hard Rock Trail today and I'm nearly run off the trail by 2 small motorcycles. One guy stalls because I forced him to stop. So I end up talking with them. Turns out there's a group of teenagers that share the 2 motorcycles. They come in from the west in the early evening trying to avoid regular park traffic.
The guys say they're BMXers.
I asked them if they're supposed to be riding on these trails, and they say they don't know (surprise). So I tell them to be careful that those engines could really spook a horse. One guy kept telling me to ride by, but I kept telling him they were ON THE TRAIL and blocking my way.
So I reported them to the park police...who had already followed up on a call about these guys just prior. Unfortunately, they must catch them in the act, of course. I think signs should be posted stating no motorcycles. Everything about BH I looked at does not mention motorized cycles at all. It does say the utility easements are off limits, except in some parts of Cabin Branch.

Yep- we saw evidence of this on Sunday.. I also think they're tearing up some of their own homemade singletrack. (Nocro, Yueq, thinking back, that single thru the creek crossing was probably not legit).

They were riding last night again, didn't see them but heard them. What's the number to call? Maybe if we keep calling they will watch a little more carefully.
Its kind of spooky thinking that your going 20+ mph down the hills, got enough control that I can slow down for a hiker or horse coming up the hill at a few mph, but a motorcycle could be coming up the hill at 20+ mph...

Even though this is labeled as their emergency number it's ok to call to report this kind of thing. I called the other number, and after pressing a bunch of buttons, was connected to the same place I would have been if I had called the above number. They will ask you whether it's an emergency or not. I stated that right off the bat.
Unfortunately, if you're on a trail at BH and you need to make this call you will probably not have cell service.

I saw these people today around 7pm. They were riding on what looked liked a golf cart with ATV tires on it. They were flying around at the dead end of cabin branch at the utility lines. I didn't have the number to report them or anything.
This area is weird because it's so close to private property. I looked at it on my gps and much of it appears to be inside the park though.
I am concerned that they are riding on the trails too. Hopefully something will be done soon.

301-949-3010 Put it in your cell and call when you see it. Give them the location as best you can. They probably don't realize they are doing anything wrong, so let the police inform them. It carries more weight coming from them.

I was going to make a new thread, but I thought the topic on this couldn't hurt to have more traffic.
Anyways I was on Cabin Branch, the one stream crossing that was getting muddy, the only one that does not have a bidge now has a bridge right next to the crossing. So I think there are no stream crossings left at Black Hill.... Well there is that little trickle of a stream on the Black Hill Trail.

Cabin Branch now has a bridge right next to the crossing. When did this go in? It was not there last Tuesday, (if it's the same crossing I'm thinking of).
