I was wondering if there is any interest in a vintage mountain bike class at the wednesdays at wakefield series. Probably a 1 lap exhibition race with a nominal entry fee starting at 6pm so you could still do the 7pm race on your newer bike. The class would be for pre 1990 era mountain bikes, U brakes, wide set cantilevers, purple anno, biospace, rigid forks. The Southern Sierra Fat Tire Assoc. has been doing this for a few years at their Keysville Classic....click the link below, go to Keysville Classic, go to vintage mt bike race.

I would be interested in this class but all of my old iron is in various states of assembly. Definitely need a rules committee to decide on acceptable equipment.
My vote is for non-suspension, toe-clips and cantis. Style points for anno, colored cable housings and period correct jerseys.

i'd be up for this at the WAW next year. I have a 21-speed '93 trek 830 with barends, cantilevers, grip shifters (upgrade in 1995) that is riding on its 4th rigid fork, covered in college band and microbrew stickers and beggin to be raced.

perhaps we can do a vintage race at the Monster Mash this fall....I have an 85 mongoose - all original xt with drilled rims, a mid 80s Peugeot Canyon Express with the funkiest seatpost I've ever seen and old Schwinn High Sierra with Cunningham roller cam brakes..
