Cleaning

Removed some older components from mtb - to replace w/ newer ones. I wanted to clean some of the older ones up - shimano 747 pedals, xt rear d. I used to have access to an ultrasonic cleaner but no longer. What methods to folks use to really clean these up - do I dare soak them in something??

Dawn dishwashing liquid and a scrub brush works pretty well. If it's really greasy, use a fair amount of Dawn and some water to make it less viscous. I wouldn't soak parts in degreaser.
