Every time I ride there I question the wisdom of routing the orange trail from the camping area down to the lake side. The trail runs straight through a seeping drainage into the lake.

Sure it's fun, but it routing it a little bit higher on the bench between the seepage and the hillside. There is plenty of room there for something drier and less damaging.

I haven't read the IMBA trailbuilding book, but that section has always bothered me.

It is not something we built, it is a legacy trail that has been there for decades.

We have looked at that numerous times also, we have been throwing band-aids at it for quite some time. We keep patching up little areas. At one point we even flagged a section that not only bypassed the low runnoff point, but also the lake edge trail where the fishermen are. It never gained traction with management. One reason was that it was alot of work for little gain, and the other is that section is notoriously wet in the spring only (like when they hold the race) and bone dry the rest of the year, so it is generally not that bad. I trail up slope side is a TON of work (walk over and look at the ground sometime), so we are focusing our efforts at this time to gain NEW trail, singletrack in previously unused portions of the park.
