I ordered some Avid BB7 Disc brakes from Blue Sky two weeks ago and they already charged me for them but the front brake and the levers have been on backorder for two weeks and I called and they said it would probably be another two weeks before they get more! I just thought it was weird that they charged me for them already. Im sure they are reliable I just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience with them. Thanks!!

I've ordered thru them several times and no problems. Is it an actual debit.. or just a pre-auth? They're good business.. but that popular stuff really sells quick and even big time e-tailers can't keep the stuff stocked. Besides, wasn't there a fire at SRAM headquarters/main-warehouse a month ago or so? If so, may explain lag time w/ Avid parts. This info not substantiated.

Its an actual debit which I thought was weird. Thanks for the reply...I havent heard about the fire but that would explain the lag. Thanks.

No retailer worth their salt should be charging you until your order has shipped. If they do, tell them to refund immediately or you will contest the charge with your credit card company. I had a problem with this a couple years ago and it was a pain (not this retailer but another small Internet retailer).
Be careful...

Be careful...yea i remember.. then they ended up sending you a Mythos with backwards tread, right?
no seriously, he's right.. be careful with e-tailers.. especially the smaller names. Once the funds are frozen, there's no swift way to get a refund- at least not that I'm aware of. Also, this is probably a common scam, where 'buyer' says "hey man.. refund!" and the funds were never transferred in the first place.. or some such.

I ordered from them once without any problem. But then I agree with TDN that the retailer shouldn't charge you for anything on back order. Currently for online orders I mostly go through Speedgoat. They pricematch and ship orders super fast.

I had no problems at all purchasing through them. In fact, they were very nice and the items arrived quickly.

Problems or not, the seller shouldn't bill until shipment occurs for stock items. An exception may be for custom or non-catalog items, where a deposit may be stipulated.

ive ordered from there several times with no problems. the last time the web said "in stock" but minues after i ordered the item, the confirmation email i received said "on back order". over a month and it still didnt come in, so i just cancelled. subsequent threads on other forums have indicated that bluesky does this quite a bit, saying its in stock on the website but then saying its out of stock and on backorder after purchase.

I've ordered from bluesky several times w/no problems. They do charge your card when the order is placed. My last order was for several items & was short a set of handlebars. I called them & the next day my card was credited back. A bit of a pain, but it's hard to beat some of those prices.
