As some of you may know, I am going to be doing a series of technical riding clinics for MORE: http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6910

Since posting my initial thread, I have had a few women ask about possibly doing a "women only" version of the clinic. I am perfectly willing to do that if there is enough interest, so I'm starting this thread to see what you think.

I am proposing to do a second clinic on the same day as the first (Saturday April 14th). The womens clinic would be immediately after the first clinic, say 12:30 to 1pm. I would still be teaching so you would have to deal with one guy, but all the clinic participants would be female. We would be covering the exact same material, namely technical trail riding techniques (log hopping, wheelie drops, etc.).

Let me know what you think. If you don't want to post, PM me.

Thanks!

Thanks! Thanks, you think! Can I post, even if I don't want to have anything to do with your stupid clinics???? :p ;)

Just kidding.

Actually I do want to have something to do with your clinics. I want to take your clinic, and I want to do it in the for-incredibly-inept riders. I don't think that particularly means for women. I just think it's me who is particularly uncoordinated.

But I guess, as a woman, I could have the option of being in the regular MOREon version, or in the women version. So maybe if you're looking to fill up space in one or the other, I could slide into a slot in that clinic.

I don't think that particularly means for women. I just think it's me who is particularly uncoordinated.Lesson #1 is that negativity to yourself and your abilities is a very bad thing that will frequently lead to soul-crushing failure.

Seriously, you are not by any means a bad rider. Quit being so negative about yourself. :)

So maybe if you're looking to fill up space in one or the other, I could slide into a slot in that clinic.I was actually thinking about possibly doing a women only version of the clinic prior to being asked about it. The RLAG rides seem enormously popular, so it is logical to assume that there is a large segment of women riders who would prefer to ride with other women (if only occasionally). And I can certainly understand if some ladies feel a bit intimidated trying to learn around men, so I thought possibly an all-women environment may be attractive to some.

I'm interested but will be helping out at the Schaeffer beginner clinic that day ( :) ) so could not make it down there in time.:(

Any chance it could be another day (please, please :) :) )?

Any chance it could be another day (please, please :) :) )?Sure. I was planning on doing the clinic a few times over the spring and summer. It will probably be a while before the second one though, as I'm busy the rest of April (in Colorado and Utah mountainbiking, wee!). So class number 2 will be sometime in May.

Feel free to post any questions or comments and I'll do me best to answer them.

Do you have any ideas on the dates? I'd really like to take the clinic, but I have some other commitments coming up, and if I have a conflict I would sign up for the co-ed clinic you have in April

THANKS!!

THANKS!!The first co-ed clinic will be April 14th at 10am. I was thinking of holding the first womens clinic immediately afterward on the same day (1pm) if there is enough interest, but so far there hasn't been a whole lot.

I'll check into the progress on the electronic signup tonite and post more information. I would say that if you don't mind doing the coed class, go ahead and sign up, and if I do decide to teach a womens class on the same day I'll give you the option to move over.

If anyone is interested, I am doing a makeup clinic this coming Saturday, the 19th at 10am at Fountainhead. I have two empty slots if any ladies are interested. If so, drop me an email at the address listed in the first post.

If I wear a pink hat, can I come to your makeup clinic? I could never figure out how to do makeup well. What? This is about bikes? Oh, never mind.

As long as you a girly enough to fool me and the other ladies, well, don't ask, don't tell. ;)

Any plans for another coed clinic? My weekend kiddie kommitments are coming to an end, and I sure could use something like this.

Uh, DARN! You weren't suppossed to CALL me on it! :-)

I'm in the beginner women's class now,, how about more on cornering fast, more uphill 'tips' (guess that is just practice). I can go over the small logs and roots no problem... but going up gravely/loose dirt is tough and then when you ARE uphill and come out of your peddles - hard time getting back in and going.

Maybe some 'structure' riding... like the teeter-totter or the very narrow planks...

What do you think? A class or just get out there?

Thanks

ThanksOne thing I may do (as a few people have requested it) is a "skills" ride at a place like Schaeffer. My intention was to cover stuff I have gone over in my clinics (log hopping, etc.) but I would be happy to cover stuff like climbing technique also. The ride would be very slow paced, and we would stop frequently stop and practice on various hills and obstacles on the trail.

Punga did a ride like this last year and it was very popular.

Ya know, I'll just look for your next technical clinic...Thats also an option for you, although I don't cover climbing technique at all. But the center of gravity manipulation stuff I cover would be useful when climbing.

I would like to do a ride and actually practice on various obstacles encountered on the trail along with cornering techniques. We can watch you do that big log at Schaeffer. :D

I suggest asking joep or gina about my spirited attempts to go up the wall at the top of the Schaeffer lot a few weekends ago. I'm pretty sure I heard some muffled laughter when I fell over backwards and crushed the bottle cage on my bike. ;)

A skills ride would be fun to do. Lemme try to figure out a good weekend to do it, and see if Punga would be willing to co-lead.
