So important that Parks staff have been constantly telling me to inform al the bike groups of this meeting!

Current MORE CIP Issues are:

- Support for Upper Rock Creek Trail System, again needs to be a priority.
- Support for Fairland trail improvements, a priority.
- Support for a Full Time County Trail Work Crew
- Ask that bikes have access to the Rachel Carson Trail, important connector route

JOINT PUBLIC FORUM
Proposed FY 09-14 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Budget

THURSDAY, March 29, 2007
7:00 p.m.
M-NCPPC’s Montgomery Regional Office Auditorium
8787 Georgia Avenue
Silver Spring, Maryland 20910

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Recreation Advisory Boards invite testimony at a joint public forum on park and recreation projects to be included in the FY 09-14 CIP. This forum provides the public an opportunity to comment before the Department of Parks and the Department of Recreation begin preparing their Capital Improvements Programs. These two programs are managed by different Departments, but they are of concern to similar interest groups since many recreation activities occur on park property.

The CIP for the Department of Parks includes proposals for parkland acquisition, renovation of older park facilities, and new park development. New proposals will be added primarily in the later years of the program. The Recreation Department’s CIP will include proposals for construction and renovation of community/recreation centers and aquatic facilities. The proposed CIPs are forwarded to the County Executive in the Fall 2007. The County Executive’s recommended CIP is forwarded to the County Council in January 2008.

The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing in February 2008 and review and approve the FY 09-14 CIP in Spring 2008. The FY 09-14 CIP becomes effective on July 1, 2008. The next year, the Council will make only limited amendments to the FY 09-14 CIP for FY 2010, the second year of the biennial cycle.

Speakers are limited to five (5) minutes for organizational representatives, or three (3) minutes for individuals. Please sign up by noon, March 29, by calling (301) 495-2511, or e-mail Patsy.Hedrick@mncppc.org. Sign-ups will be accepted at the door if space is available (limit 35 speakers).
