We'll since it seems I'm the only one that rides out here , I'll keep myself updated.
Its living up to its reputation as a swamp.

Seriously,
Its no better than anywhere else.
Evan the gravel road that runs back to the lake is too muddy to ride.
My truck was sliding a little and I was afraid of getting it stuck.

The good news is, theres no snow left down here.

If we could ever get a good weather pattern to allow the nightrides to happen, I'd join you. Until then, it's treadmills during the week and fire roads on weekends. :(

The good news is in total the trails aren't real bad, but the normally wet spots are really wet and muddy.

If we don't get any precip before next Thursdays planned night ride the ride will go on.

The bad, The green trail is totally torn up with downed trees. We didn't go on the brown so I don't know about that. So if the ride goes this Thursday I'll definately be doing so creative navigating to get some miles in.

Its sloppy in alot of spots. But we can't do anymore damage than what those inconsiderate equestrians have done.
I HATE HORSES!

I was so ticked off after my ride.

Anyways, it looks like those 1000lb rat riders might be having an event out there sometime soon, maybe this weekend. I'm trying to found out when.

You don't wanna try to ride the trails while they're having an event. I invadvertenly was out there during 1 of their events last year. After stopping every 2 minutes to let a mindless herd go pass, I gave up and left.

I'll update later.

The signs that were up at the park were for an event that the equestrians had last weekend and hadn't bothered taking down. I guess soggy muddy conditions don't stop equestrians from riding.

So you should be clear for this weekend.
There will be some minor work going on Sunday afternoon on the green and brown trails.

Final storm damage has been cleaned up.
All the trails are open, no walking necessary.

The good news is that the winds from earlier in the week didn't do as much damage as I thought they would. I only ran across 2 walkovers. A few more "bump n go's". They were fun.

Muddier than usual. The normal muddy spots are still very muddy, the damp spots are muddy. It should be cleared up though for the weekend.

there is a 4-h horse event scheduled for may 6.
I'd stay away.

5/06/07 >> Yeah, I think you're right Tommy. I chose to do Cedarville today and couldn't help but notice all the horse doo on the trails. Lucky for me no horses were in sight, probably because I tend to ride later in the day. No one has mentioned conditions at Cedarville in quite some time so I thought I would post up. Today was a perfect day to ride. Cool temps and perfect trails. Cedarville was in fine shape today despite some loose spots dug up by the horses and the occasional horse pie. Trails were dry and fast. As everyone knows Cedarville is reknown for it's lack of challenging terrain and today was no exception, not a log or deadfall in sight. Regardless, you have to love Cedarville. It is a very nice place to ride and all the trails are well marked. Today I was amazed at all the different fragrances that Cedarville has to offer. On one of the trails ( white I think ) I caught an aroma that reminded me of riding in the GWNF. Tons of wildlife too. Birds everywhere, great place for bird watching, probably because it is so close to water. There are Marshes, Lakes, Tall pines and easy groomed trails that are mapped and well marked. Today I got a gander at a good sized fox. At least I thought it was a fox. It was quite dark colored, might of been a coyote...not sure. On the far end of the park I discovered a new trail that had been opened. It was red blazed and hooked up with the Green trail over by the lake. This was the most strangest looking trail I've ever seen because on part of the trail it looks as though someone went Postal with a chain saw. A whole section of second growth pine ( say, 6-8" in diameter ) were felled. Right in the middle of this devastation is a short section of the new red trail. If you can invison Edward Scissorshand equiped to become Edward Chainsawhand and had him twirling like The Tasmanian Devil...that is what this part of the trail looks like, fallen trees everywhere! Wish I had my camera with me.

I saw that too for the first time time Friday. I too thought it was a little big for a fox but I only have 1 that I see in my yard to compare it to.

I had a miserable ride last evening. (7/5).
Its been a few weeks since I'd been out there but the bugs were frigg'n ridiculous.
They aren't that bad near the rangers station but once you get back near the blue trail they start swarming. Evan at 10mph they were swarming all around me. Once you slow down or stop, they start biting.

I cut my trail ride short and just did some road miles around the park.

Does anybody else ride out there earlier in the day?
Are the bugs that bad all the time or is my start times (after 6:30) just a bad time to be there?

Can I assume conditions will be dryer and more bug-free this time of year?

I would venture to say yes. Even the "water crossings" at Rosaryville are dry.
So I would say this would be a great time of year to go to Cedarville!

It all good.
Some wet leaves, very few muddy spots.
Overall very rideable.
If you just wanna get off of the asphalt and don't wanna drive north, this is the place to go.

So, what are the expected trail conditions at cedarville this week? I hear it drains better than most of the area trails.

Some soft spots but nothing that should stop you from riding.
The clear cut area across the blue trail was a sloppy, slippery mess. Just get across that and you should be fine.

I see who my true friends are now.
BTW, the roadies ask that you not attend anymore.
I went to bat for you but they threatened to hold me down and shave my legs.

Conditions tonight were great. We rode for about 90 minutes at a pretty good click and hit maybe one spot that actually threw mud. (The exception being the clear cut field, that was slick.)

Thanks to Tommy for hooking up the ride. :)

Still decent.
Only one really bad spot and I don't thing we're overly concerned with damaging it. (Blue, clear cut area).

Be really nice if it wasn't so flat.
Uhgg, I need some hills and obstacles.
