Ride Like a Girl is scheduled to ride Gambrill this Saturday at 10 am. It will be a casual-pace ride with short stops to regroup and a couple of longer stops to work on stuff.

This ride is VERY weather-dependent. And frankly, it's not looking too good, but I thought I'd post up just in case. I will go up there Friday and take a look at the places that generally drain the least, and will post conditions and ride status by Friday late afternoon.

If the ride is cancelled, the back-up plan is to join Jackson's Tri-State Ride
(http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=565&day=2007-3-3&c=2).

Liz:

I rode the roads up, down, and around Gambril and the Watershed yesterday. There's still a lot of snow up there in the woods. I briefly looked for biker activity and did not see any evidence of tire tracks. Also, the parking lot is not plowed.

Sorry, I'm going to have to call this one off... went up to Gambrill and the Shed today to check out the trails. I was pretty hopeful driving up toward the parking lot, hardly any snow to be seen from the road, but the parking lot is a large sheet of ice and the trailhead looks like the first picture. The trail itself consists of about 3 inches of thawed and refrozen snow; icy patches with a layer of water on top (I don't think it could be slicker if you ran a Zamboni over it); and huge puddles. Oh, and mud too.

So no ride! There's a MORE paved-trail ride at 10 leaveing from Gravelly Point: http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6749

We'll keep our fingers crossed for the 24th.
