Fairfax County is organizing a Potomac Watershed clean-up this spring for county parks & stream corridors.

This is a chance to further help out Fairfax County Parks and build our relationship with them. This was sent out in an internal county employee newsletter. I've contacted the County staff coordinating this and he would like to have MORE represented. Are any of the liaisons interested in this? Let me know and I'll get back in touch with the County to arrange resources, etc.

Potomac River Watershed Cleanup Seeks Volunteers
The Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking volunteers to establish cleanup sites for the 19th annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. Site leaders will help recruit volunteers and lead them in litter removal on the day of the cleanup. Supplies (trash bags, gloves, sign in sheets, etc) will be provided and we will assist the site leader in picking a suitable cleanup location and finding volunteers. All county streams eventually run to the Potomac, so the number of possible cleanup sites is very large. Last year there were 75 cleanups registered in Fairfax County, and we hope to do even better this year! This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for groups such as scout troops, homeowners associations, offices and social clubs, as well as individuals. Most cleanups will be held Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1, but sites can be established in the weeks before and after those dates as well
