So the hotline does not mention that the trail is closed, but the signs there say closed in spite of the fact that the trail is frozen solid (as of this morning). I can understand that the trail is closed. If it melts it would be the worst mess. But I am frustrated by the fact that the hotline does not match the signs.

Anyhow, what do you do if you just drove all the way down to FH and it is closed?

Check the trail conditions to verify that the trail is rideable in spite of the signs. :(
Ride down to the marina and back to the entrance.
Ride one-legged down to the marina and back up
Switch to the other leg and hit the marina again.
Drag logs out practice bunny hopping in the parking lot.
Ride down to the marina and practice the new CM start.
Post a compliant about the hotline and signs not matching.

[QUOTE=pepelkod]. . . I am frustrated by the fact that the hotline does not match the signs.

I agree – total frustration when the hotline and signs do not match. This mismatch is a “winter” problem at Fountainhead as the park ranger is not there fulltime as he is in the summer.

I will be meeting with the park manager and the park ranger next week. I will put this problem on the agenda.

Possible Solutions:
- close park for the winter (when ranger is not present)
- rider responsibility / ride when appropriate

Other solutions? Let me know ~tom

Yesterday I scheduled a meeting with Fountainhead during work and the trail is fairly dry. There are some mud puddles on the back side by the lake before you get to Shock a Billy but other than that the trail is decent shape.

I did notice that there was some erosion around some rooted areas. Some simple maintenance would take care of this and the mud puddles. It was riding fast yesterday. Happy days are here again!
