lookin for a good all-mountain helmet. don't like the look of the roadie helmet now, but don't want a full face. i like the look of the fox flux helmet, but was wondering if there were any other options.

I bought a GIRO XEN because it seemed to have the best back of the head protection I could find other than a full helmet. It is expensive (and a bit ugly), but you only have one head.

Try the Bell Delirium. It is essentially the Bell Alchera (a road helmet) with an MTB-compatible tribal sign/visor. Super light, breezy, MTB style - all for $50 at Performance.

Very comfortable well built helmet. It gets a bit hot when the temps get above 90 degrees. But I put up with it because this helmet was built for protection, not looks. Normally the helmet is about $130+. I think last years model can still be had at performance:

The only other helmet that would offer better protection would be to go with a skate part style helmet or go full face.

Another vote for the Giro Xen. Love mine. Fits more like a skate helmet (lower in the front and back), but well ventilated.

Another vote for the Xen. Got one for Xmas (on the special, mentioned earlier) and like it so far. I've had a couple of Gyro E2s that I liked a lot too.
