Pedal Shop and The Bike Lane Present:
A Women's Mountain Bike Retreat
with Sue Haywood and Sue George!
March 17-18
Harrisonburg, VA
Massanetta Springs.
http://www.massanettasprings.org/
Join us for a girls-only mountain bike weekend in one of the best biking areas on the East Coast. We will meet Saturday evening at Sue George's new Shenandoah Yoga Studio for a private instructional Women's Yoga Class, followed by a group discussion about all things mountain biking. After some socializing and getting to know each other we will head out to Massanetta Springs for a potluck dinner (bring your favorite dish) at our cabin.
We will spend the night at a cabin large enough for the entire group. Each person will have their own bunk- please bring a sleeping bag or twin sheet set for bedding. (The cabins will have pillows).
After a homemade breakfast on Sunday morning we will head out to the trail for some on-the-bike skills work. We will spend half the day riding the awesome and beautiful technical trails of the Shenandoah while The Sue's help us practice our skills.
If we have time afterward, we may go for a group ride following the skills ride.
Plan to arrive no later than 3:45 pm on Saturday March 17, so we can begin at 4 pm sharp at the Shenandoah Yoga Studio in Harrisonburg, VA (about a 2 hour drive from DC). We should be finished by 2 pm Sunday.
The cost for the weekend is $100, which covers the cost of the cabin, Saturday's yoga session, breakfast and snacks on Sunday, and top-notch instruction from two of the nation's best female mountain bikers. Don't forget to bring a dish for Saturday night!
Harrisonburg trails are challenging, to say the least- in addition to tough technical sections, climbs can last up to two hours long. Participants should be fairly confident on the bike. This clinic is meant for advanced beginners making the jump to intermediate, and intermediates moving towards an advanced-intermediate level. You should be at a fitness level that allows you to ride for at least two hours, and be ready to work on techinical riding skills at an intermediate level.
Anne or Amy will send detailed directions and weekend agenda after you register and we get closer to the date. If you have any questions in the meantime, don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to spending a great weekend with you in Harrisonburg!
In the event that we need to cancel due to weather we will do our best to reschedule. If we are unable to reschedule your $100 will be refunded.
Please go to http://thebikelane.com/page.cfm?PageID=344 to register. We only have 16 slots so please register as soon as possible.
