Has anyone ever tried the Sette shoes from Pricepoint? The reviews look good and I don't want to spend a bundle since my son's feet are growing PDQ.

Yup.
I don't have the Sette "Epic" model with the buckle, but the next one down, the "Element". It's the exact same shoe (with different badging) sold by Exostar, Nashbar, and I believe Six-Six-One used to sell. They are solid.
The screw-in cleats are pretty lame, but who needs those anyway.
Disadvantage, of course, is that you cant try them on like you would at your LBS. My shoe width was pretty close to medium.

I echo Jim D's point -- with shoes more than anything else, I strongly recommend getting them from a local store so you can try them on and make sure it's a comfortable fit. Poor fitting shoes can result in foot injury. The marginal difference in cost is well worth finding the most comfortable shoe for your foot.

i agree that finding good shoes is imporant but ive found that many times the difference in cost is more than marginal.
ive been buying shoes and helmets online since 1993. and i only made one goof in the size i ordered, and had to send back for a new size, but even with the additional shipping i had to pay it was still like 25-30% cheaper than getting in the LBS. i do agree as well, thats it is easy to get the wrong size online.

Well there you go...these are a rock-solid value if you can dial them in to your son's ever-changing foot size. And BTW -- he's a lucky kid to have dad securing quality gear!

I also have the element and just wanted to give them a try because I seem to be very hard on shoes. My last pair were Sidi's and they were very comfortable but I tore the bottom sole off. It really p!ssed me off! I said to my self, well for 50 bucks if I don't like em' not a big loss.
Anyway, for the money they hold up like iron. I never had a problem with them not fitting correctly. There pretty comfortable, at least for me. A good shoe as a back up. If I get another set, I think I would go for the one with the buckle next time. I really do like the Sidi's and will probably go back to them despite the problem I had with them.

Hi,
I have a pair of Sette shoes. I measured both my feet a couple times and had no problem getting the proper size. These are good shoes and I'm happy with them, however, they are not the greatest for walking if you have to hike'a'bike. I sometimes wish the sole was a different material because I find them a little slippery on my pedals sometimes, but only sometimes. :) I've had them for about 6 months.
I'm trying to be good and save money so these shoes were a good bargain for me (I got a pedal/shoe combo deal on Priceline). Hope this helps.
Cheers, Julia

Just to clarify on the size, I'd say they are true-to-size, probably a medium width. You could easily call or email PricePoint with specific concerns. In my case, I have a very narrow foot (11B), and these were the right length but a tad wide for me. Easily solved - in the summer I just wear 2 pairs of summer weight socks. I have worn high end mountain and road shoes over the last 18 years, and I'd say the quality on the Sette shoes is easily in-line with their full list price. They're durable. At discounted price, they're hard to beat.
