The trails in the GW Nat'l Forest are ALWAYS OPEN, day or night, rain, shine, snow whatever (maybe not fire). That includes hundreds of miles of singletrack. There are only a couple miles of trails that we can't bike on, and they are the gentle Nature and Interpetive trails found at a couple developed places.
If you've never ridden there, you're in for all kinds of surprises. You should get the Trails Illustrated-Nat'l Geographic map of Massanutten Mtn. from REI asap. And maybe start off with the standard Eliz Furnace-Bear Wallow loop which is in the guidebooks. Or, I would say wait for a MORE group ride there, but there are hardly no MORE rides there anymore. Why is that I wonder...... look within.......
