Looking to build a SS on the petty cash fund to try it out. I guess I'm looking for something like a Rockhopper frame / bike (or something similar) that someone has sitting around collecting dust. Pretty open to options, just want to try it out some before I commit to anything more expensive.

Size - 19" or Large

Thanks,
-Jim

PS Someone should start a SS rent to buy program! ;)

This may not be what you are looking for but I thought I would throw it out.

I have a Dean size large 20" titanium frame. I love this frame and have not wanted to sell it in the past. I have run it in the past as a SS with a chain tensioner. I still have the XTR cranks and bottom bracket for it.

Issues:

1. IT IS NOT a SS specific bike. You could send it back and turn it into one though.

2. Bigger issue - It has a stress fracture in the der hanger. I was going to send it back to John at Dean and even had an RMA for it but have not sent it back yet. If you wanted you could send it back and they would put a replaceable der hanger.

That being said, beyond the stress fracture(not broken just a hair fracture that has weakened the der hanger) the frame is amazing. The welds are super clean and it's a great frame.

The frame new was around $800-$1000 but I have ridden it and it does have the stress fracture so I would let it go for $300. Let me know if interested or you want to check it out.

I've got an old Cove Stiffee frame laying around... It is a little beat up, but should work fine for a singlespeed conversion. I was planning on doing that eventually, but I'm really not motivated to do it anymore. (I've already got a converted SS)
It is a Large, I believe.
I'd let it go for cheap.

i've got a no name, mid/late 90's steel hardtail frame that i'm currently riding but would be interested in parting with - i've been itching to buy a 1x1, KM, or redline instead.
it's about a 19" frame (fit's me nicely at 6'0"), and could include most of the parts on it depending upon your plans and what you have stashed away for a build. no disc brake mounts, 1" rigid fork (included), headset, seat post, stem, flat bar if'n you'd like, and all scuffs and paint chips included for a nominal cost.

will take a pic if'n you're interested.

I have a large Giant Rainer. I am not sure if it can be made into a SS or not.

The KM and fork set is under $300 at speedgoat, just FYI.

Hmm.... lots of options, but I started going through my spare parts bin and its not as abundunt as I thought. I'm probably going to scout out an entire bike on ebay/craigs list or something. I'm trying to keep this at a $200 experience. I saw a Hardrock SS for $180, but it was further south so I think I can probably find one.

I looked at the KM option but not sure I want to pay that much.

Thanks.

i have a large cannondale cadd4 frame i'll sell you for $75. i ran it ss for a while until i got a smaller frame because it was too big for me. the only catch is it's disc specific.

its a cadd 4...i think it was new in 2000 or so, but after looking at it again, it has some scatches and a dent right under the bottom bracket, so im willing to let it go for 50. its a 19" and i dont have a fork for it, sorry.
