Schaffer during winter months?

Not sure if this is the appropriate spot for this question so feel free to move it...

Is Schaffer open during the winter months other than when the trails are wet? Or are the trails closed for a certain period of time? I'm going to be home over christmas break and would love to ride. Also, I saw a few threads about hunting at Schaffer...what's the deal with that? I'm not too interested in getting shot while riding...lol

Last year there wasnt any riding at sheaffer during the winter so im assuming thats the deal this year (especially since we are suppose to have a wet winter). If you are going up to sheaffer and its closed for hunting there will be signs all over the front of the parking lot and a suspicious absence of bike racks on the cars. If this happens hoyels mill will probably be open and you can park at the soccerplex or another parking lot in the area. If you dont want to ride hm and dont want to waste gass there is an article posted up in the MORE news that has all the dates local parks are closed for hunting.
