Okay, its Christmas time and I am bored. I just moved here to Alexandria and missing the mountains. I am looking for a decent Med hardtail to BUY and build up for the spring while I do spin classes during the winter to stay in shape.

Fact is that I sold one bike to buy another but would rather build my next bike again than buy a new one. With the right frameset, I plan on racing this bike next season and finishing with Shenandoah 100 next year.

Anyone got a 17" or 18" frame they want to sell? Thanks!

No frame to offer, but there is no reason to hang up the MTB for the winter and do spin classes. A lot of us ride year round, you just need to be selective with the trails you ride at times.

As with everyone up here, work really cuts into riding time. These past two months alone, I have yet to be at home on the weekend. And the places I am going don't warrant bringing my bike (can't find room between the cooler of beer and my tuxedo for weddings)

So while I'd love to ride on the weekends or even do a night ride, I have a sneaking suspicion that the only way I'll be back on the trail this winter is if I get or build a new bike. That'll help create more anxiety about getting back on the trails sooner. :)

Once the bike is done, maybe do some night rides with yall. I just need to get a frame! Thanks!

HTO has some 06 Rocky Mountain's. If I recall, all the good deals where in Med.

I just bought a large (21") Giant XTC Carbon fiber frame for $500 from BlueSky. Check about on the WWW sites for a similar in the medium, they only had the 21". It's super light and I am worried about breaking it, but it should be snappy.

PricePoint has the SID World Cup carbon fiber 80mm for $599 right now and the SID team w/poplock for $450. The '06 Fox Terra logic has also dropped $200-$300 on a few sites if you don't like to be bothered with lockout. From now until January is the best time to buy last years forks. The prices are dropping and there is still a decent selection.

Put those two together and you have a good start on a 20 pound bike for the SM 100. See you there!

Now, where is it they have the 12 hour spin class?

Jeramiah Bishop has one but because its 12 hours that means SM200!

Can't wait and I hope I see you there too! Me on a new bike frame also!

Okay, 12 hours would QUITE allow him to ride it twice. :)

Clocked in at 7:15 this year. Heck, I'd be thrilled to finish and really thrilled to finish without using my light!

They also have the Wilderness 101 prior to the SM 100. Last year they had an entire series with some of the races out west. You had to ride one of the races out west to compete for points in the series and such. I couldn't quite tell if the races out west were any good or not. It did not seem like the Vail race was included. I also can't tell if this will be a series again next year. I guess I am looking in the wrong place or it's too early and the organizers have not posted anything yet.

The race in Michigan looked doable and different, but I don't think that counts as one of the "out west" races.

Has anyone out there ridden the Wild 101 or any of these other races?

Do not worry about the XTC,

My brother weighs over 200lbs and has rode it for more than two years.

I just bought a used XTC with Carbon rear for $230. It is an huge 23" XL that I am going to build tonight

Is the Wild the one in WV a couple of weeks before the SM100? I've heard great things about that one too. Then there is the assault on Mt. Mitchell in NC also. Some great centuries out there.

JB is on fire this year. Shenandoah Mountain is his stomping ground. It wouldn't surprise me if he breaks the seven hour mark next year.

I've got a line on something today and hopefully have a frame to build up. Thanks everyone for their comments and suggestions. I checked them all out and appreciate your time.

Hey, my buddy is on that list. #236. A very respectable 12:30 for his first century. I'll be so lucky to next year.

Ugh. And I thought I was doing well to finish the Seagull Century in 9hrs. Ok, I did an extra 10 miles due to a wrong turn, but still...

Chris. that's a great time. Got your legs from riding in the noke!

The SM100 has something like 14,000 ft of elevation change and all off road. Yikes!

I think Halfinch and are coming to to terms on one of his frames so thanks everyone. Especially Half-Inch coming to the rescue.
