Last minute, but . . .

In cooperation with Maryland DNR, a night ride has been arranged Wednesday Nov. 29 at Rosaryville.

As with all lit events in MD, these are group rides for no more than 20 riders. We may split into a couple groups based on pace depending on the participants. RSVP is required. You do not need to be a MORE member to participate.

To reserve your spot, contact Bunky using the following email address: mdtinyk at yahoo. If you are under the age of 18, please include this information in your email before the ride.

The ride will begin promptly at 6:30PM. We will wrap up no later than 9:15PM so we can be out of the park by 9:30 PM. Good chance a few folks will grab some grub at one of the fine establishments along Route 5 post-ride.

Thanks to the staff at MDNR's Southern MD Rec Complex for this opportunity.

Place: Rosaryville State Park
Date: 11-29-06
Rain Date: N/A
Pace: casual/moderate/faster depending on group turnout
Terrain: intermediate
Meet at: trailhead parking lot ready to ride at 6:30 PM.

PLEASE PAY THE ENTRANCE FEE (UNLESS YOU OTHERWISE HAVE A SEASON PASS). THIS DETAIL WAS NOT DISCUSSED WITH THE PARK AND FEES HAVE NOT BEEN AFFIRMATIVELY WAIVED.

Also sent you an e-mail, I'd like to join the ride tonight too.

There is a slight chance I might not be able to make it, so please don't wait on my account. Most likely, I'll see ya there. Thanks!

In case I show up a little late:

1. Which way are we going (clockwise or counter?)

2. Is it more than one lap? If I'm too much past 6:30 I'll pick up a 2nd lap.

Damn good ride, 1st time at Rosy, I will definitely be back.

Pushed myself so hard on the 1st few hills trying to keep up with the pack I almost lost dinner, that was why I slowed a little. Thanks to Tommy for sweeping.

That was an awesome introduction to night riding. Thanks again Tommy for hanging back with me while I fixed my chain!

Hopefully we can do it again soon! :D

We'll see. As long as we get dry weather, I see the Wed nighter at Rosy/Cedar becoming a regular thing.

Only next time, come on fellas, let's get the lead out and push the envelope a little, ha! :D

I didn't get to make it - but thanks for putting this together. I'm always willing to cut out of work early to make it over there for a night ride.

I'm starting to learn about the enjoyment of just being outside in the woods on my bike. Not every ride needs to be a hammerfest.

Sorry bout my dum-dum moment ricky.

I saw Ricky looking down into the grass and talking and I heard "Tommy". I thought "Who's laying down down in the grass that he's talking too. Did somebody get hurt?".

Took me a minute to realize he was avoiding the glare from our lights and asking me if we were ready to proceed.

I guess we all get those moments.

I was outside the envelope! My short term goal is to not be DFL for once

I have a great appreciation for the sweeper since it is usually me they are sweeping for.

I would strongly recommend splitting the ride into two groups. Let the faster riders head off first, around 6:30 - 6:45. They may be able to complete two laps. The slower group heading out at 6:45 - 7:00. I would almost guarantee we will finish up at the same time around 8:45- 9:00. The faster riders do not get any resemblence of a good workout when they have to stop for 5 - 10 minutes every 15 minutes or so to keep the group together. The casual riders might not take enough time to recover after our efforts due to feeling guilty about making the faster riders too cold. Dave M.
