I'm selling my 05 fisher Big Sur bought brand new this past June. I put about 200 miles on it in 2 months, and it has only been ridden once since then. The reason I quit riding it and am selling it is a back injury. Dr's say I won't be able to ride for a while, and if I want to get back into cycling in the future I should go with road biking at that point.

The manitou skareb super fork was warrantied b/c an O-ring got stuck in the lock out mechanism. The LBS didnt fix it properly the first time, but afterwards it was sent directly to manitou who replaced the entire innards of the fork. So its basically a brand new fork (ridden on once, the last time I rode).

Below is a spec list from Gary Fisher's website, it looks just like the picture, and the bike is stock except for 2 things (the stock parts will be included also):
upgraded handlebars--> Race Face Next SL carbon fiber flat bar
upgraded saddle--> WTB Laser V team.

There is one scratch on the bottom of the frame. Other than that its in pretty much new condition. Revolution cycles in Clarendon gave it a tune up in late september/october and its only been ridden that one time since. You are welcome to come inspect/test ride/whatever before you buy.

Hello Purple Monster,

I see a lot of people selling bikes on eBay and elsewhere on account of back injuries but I wonder why doctors advise them not to ride again. I have friends who swear that regular bike riding has done wonders for their backs, and I would think mountain biking on easy trails, fireroads, and pavement would be better than road biking because the riding position, particularly with riser bars, is more accomodating for the back. Anyway, sorry to see you have to leave the ranks of mountain bikers.

I would love to be able to ride even on fire roads, but the last time I tried I couldn't even do that. I might not even be able to bike at all for a long time. Thanks for the kind words though.

I don't know about backs, been lucky there, but when I was hit by a car I was back on a road bike much more quickly than the MTB because the road bike was smoother. It took a several months before the tail bone was ready to MTB (still feel it). What really scared me was doing a USD off the MTB onto my already damaged tail bone. No big deal to ride buffed dirt, but there is always a log jump or something, that's the whole point. Even when I got back on the MTB after several months I could really feel anything technical, even though I am hardly ever on the saddle at that point.

For the back I would guess this goes exponential based on the complexity of the bones and nerves in the back compared to the buttocks.

Bikes@Vienna has some nice recumbros. They are the fastest overall bikes out there and hold all the HPV speed records (no joke). I have also been passed by a high speed trike that was about 20 inches off the ground. The guy was rolling at almost 30 mph. The problem with the trikes is they start around $5k for the speedster ones. You can get a pretty decent recumbro for about $1k and a good used one for $500.

Hope your back recovers enough so that you can get out and catch some air.

ok, i got scammed on ebay somehow. about 2 or 3 hours before the auction ended someone cancelled all the bids (all within 15 seconds of eachother), so the price dropped $400, and never got back up.

It will be relisted soon.

The bike is relisted on ebay.

Ebay figured out that someone got into my account (got my password somehow) and deleted the bids. Sorry for the inconvenience.
