Hey, I just moved back up here to Fairfax and am looking for someone to ride with. I've only been biking for a little over a year now but I'm in pretty good shape. I'd like to find someone who can show me some good trails in the area. Shoot me an email if you can help me out - nick.feliciano@gmail.com. Thanks in advance.

nick,
when you looking to ride - what's your schedule?
this time of year, it's easier to ride at night.
also, look at the front page of the website, as it lists upcoming rides.

welcome to the area.

First, hit the "Quick Links" button in the upper right, and scroll down to "Where to Ride" to see a list of all the trails in the DC area that MORE actively maintains. They all have directions, so you can pull up Google maps and start figuring out what is local and what isn't. Your most local trail is probably Wakefield/Accotink. Fountainhead is probably next closest. As long as you don't mind driving, there are several great trails in the Germantown area (Schaeffer Farms, Black Hill, the Hoyles Mill Connector). Go a little further north up 270 and you hit Frederick, which has some truly excellent riding (Gambrill State park, Greenbriar and the Frederick Watershed).

Second, hit the "Calendar" button in the upper right to see all the upcoming scheduled rides. Wakefield has an excellent night ride that happens every Tuesday/Thursday, weather permitting, although lights are required this time of year. I lead casually paced rides on the weekends fairly regularly, and so do several other members. The organized rides are a great way to meet other locals.

Last, welcome to MORE!

I'm looking to ride whenever - mornings or afternoons. Right now, I don't have lights so night riding is out of the question, but it's something I would like to get into. That said, I can do just about any morning right now.

By the way, I apologize for the seemingly lazy post. I saw the calender and plan on joining some of the rides, probably this weekend actually. I just prefer to ride small groups sometimes and was looking for someone to tag along with.

I definitely look forward to meeting some you guys.

I have a spare light you can borrow if you're interested in coming out for a night ride some time. Just let me know in advance, and I'll make sure the battery is charged.

I lead the Tuesday and Thursday Wakefield casual rides.
