I rode the Yellow, White, & Blue trails yesterday and they are all in pretty good shape. The mud is pretty bad near the cell tower.

I biked the yellow, blue and white loops. Everything looks good. Reroutes and bridges made by the MORE workgroup last week are excellent, and were much needed (the bridges especially... IMHO great judgement on where those got placed). Water in the crossings still cold. Overall very dry, muddy in the usual spots. Bummed that some of the log jumps have been removed, but glad that many were spared and simply had a passage around them created. Go bike it! Go NOW!! :D

Rode Yellow and Blue loops Wednesday. Everything looked FABULOUS! :D Even the perennial wetspots were not as bad as they have been. IMHO Unless it rains a lot in the meantime, riding should be good this weekend. There are some areas that are seeing the same shortcutting happening as in Gambrill, but I don't think it's too terrible at this time. I did note that some have ridden on the trail sections that were closed by MORE (tire tracks over the debris that was indicating the closure). We may need to drag more debris to block the trail.

I was just getting ready to ask about Schaeffer for tomorrow - thanks for posting this!
Would anyone be up for a casual to moderate (if I'm having an ambitious day) ride tomorrow at Schaeffer?

Aggh - Too many choices! I'm already trying to decide between W-field trailwork, Fountainhead group ride or a solo spin, and now this!
Define "casual to moderate", keeping in mind that my mojo is a turtle?

Definitely more of a casual pace; my technical skills still need a LOT of work, and my aerobic threshold still needs some work, too. So, moderate would probably be best described as 'very ambitious'. Shoot me an email to chfaunce@yahoo.com if you're interested; a start time of around 10 or 10:30 would be best for me coming from Alexandria. Or, you can call my cell tonight or in the morning which is 571-277-1126.
Thanks!

Hey Craig, sorry I didn't follow up - got sidetracked. I hope you had a great ride!

No problem! I got up about an hour late, anyhow, so I didn't make it up there until about 11:30. Did a couple of laps I gues you could say - about 2.5 hours of riding - it was awesome! I miss riding there. I was thinking about going up again Sunday for a ride, maybe the same time if you're interested. I figure Sunday would be better than Saturday - better/warmer forecast, and it will give the trails an extra day to dry out from all this rain.
Interested, maybe we can even get a group ride going?

Rode late afternoon. For the most part, the trails were solid, but with many, many greasy patches (muddy right on the surface, solid underneath). Lots of areas where riders shot off the trails because their tires didn't get good purchase on the trail surface. Muddy in the usual places, especially around the fields. The next few days call for isolated t-storms, so conditions will be touch-and-go... so please exercise good judgement and take care of the trails!
And check your tires and brakes often! ;)
