The last .GOV ride at Rosaryville back on Columbus Day was a great ride, so I was wondering if there was interest in having another one on the Veteran's Day holiday (Friday, Nov 10.)

I'm thinking Schaefer Farms, 10:00 AM. I'm happy to lead the casual ride. Last time we had a great turnout and split into two groups. Anyone interested in leading the faster group?

What's considered fast for Schaffer? Is the group going to be blowing through the trail skipping some of the log rolls?

BTW, can we call this ride the .gov and/or .mil ride? Us military folks are looking for a ride too.

Thanks

Kris

Of course, .MIL, .EDU, and .US are all welcome. All regular folks are welcome as well, since they are paying us to ride.

That isn't true. You're paying me to ride and I'm paying you to ride. It all works itself out in the end. ;)

I don't skip anything... Steady pace with brief pauses to regroup. 12-15 mph average will be the goal depending on how wiped I am from the previous evening's night ride. If you want a break, you'll need to stage a mechanical. :)

If you need to catch your breath, You have to pass the entire group, then crash out in front of everyone. ;)

You guys make it too easy. Are four staged mechanicals too many?

I'm in.

I'm in. I'm not .gov, but I was out at that R Ville ride (on the solo one. I broke that frame, so I'll show up w/my latest conversion). Thanks for putting this together.

I just finished the night ride. Schaeffer was in surprisingly good shape. We didn't venture to the far side of the yellow loop though.

I rode it last winter. Lots and lots of logs. I rode the white loop the wrong way and was thinking, gee, these are rather large for going uphill... duh! They should be a bit easier going down hill.

Most of the stuff is fun and very quick. The newer red loop was also fun and there is a field area where you can pickup some good speed. It was nice and dry when I rode it.

Unfortunately I lost my rear hydraulic break at the far end and had to go real easy on the way back. :(

I'll be there to lead a super-casual ride (still sporting a bum shoulder - will it never heal?) and enjoy the 70 degree day.

See everyone there.

The trails are in great shape (avoid the typical areas on the back side, of course). Doesn't seem to be much interest in a faster pace. I you are, please be ready to roll at 10 AM. I have to make an afternoon appointment.

Remember to take the gravel road on the back side of yellow near the cell tower. Avoid that side field if at all possible.....please. :)

Sorry things didn't get off as planned today - I, along with others, got stuck when an an accident closed down the beltway in Fairfax.

I ran into many of you out there, and even joined up with some of the casual riders.

I brought my husband with me. He enjoyed the ride, but can barely move now! Haha!!! Now who's in better shape? ;) Haha!! We peeled off part way from our casual group and went alone. We returned to the car for a seat clamp tightening and snack and headed back out. We were there until about 1:30!

The weather was to die for, but I didn't.

Totally enjoyed it! (well, except for the early over-the-bar stunt I performed). I wish I could have stayed longer.

Good ride indeed. Fantastic weather, too. A thank you out to Karen for doing sweep duty, and to Brian for taking one for the team on a log pile in the interest of entertainment. Just for future reference, any other comments on pace, etc. for a casual/moderate class ride? Too fast/slow, too long/short, stops too frequent/infrequent?

Also, depending on how much rain we get tonight, I'm thinking of doing the Seneca Greenway Monday -- sort of a "use up some Use or Lose Leave" extension of the .gov ride concept (open to all of course). Post up if interested.

No qualms whatsoever about pace or freq/dur of stops.
