Are there going to be Rosaryville night rides this year? I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere. Sure would be nice. I might even volunteer to lead one or two if that's what's needed.

I've been saving my pennies for a decent light and I'm getting ready to plunk down the change and make the purchase. I need a good excuse to use it.

You must have ESP:

Yeah, I just noticed that. I'm not sure if it's ESP or lack of reading comprehension... (my excuse is that I looked around yesterday and didn't anything and I didn't think to check again before posting today)

It's kind of a bummer though, I don't think I'll have my light by the 8th. I haven't ordered it yet. Hopefully I'll have one for next time.

Can anyone tell me if this commute is doable?

Leave Ft Belvoir, VA @ 5:15pm and make it to Rosaryville in time to ride by 6:30? (For the ride on the 8th)

And what would be the best route at that time?

Thanks,
-Mike.

That ~25 mile drive should be doable in 1:15.
I-495 E > Rt 5 S > Rt. 233 E/N > Rosaryville Rd. > Rt. 301 N

If only I had a light; my 4-cell maglite might be a little cumbersome strapped to my helmet. :p

Strap two mag lights to your frame (will that work? I've often thought it myself.). The group will be big enough that it'll look like a caravan of tiny trains rolling down the trail. You may not need a light if you stay in the middle. No, I jest, you will need a light, preferably a stadium light hooked to your handle bars.

You may also try this route: Once you cross the WW bridge stay on the beltway until the rt. 4 south exit (exit #11a) until Woodyard Road (go right) until Osborne Road (the first left, go left) until Hwy 301 (go right) then the first right into the park.

That route may save you 5-10 minutes, the other way can get a bit crowded especially around rush hour/s.

I have been wanting the night rides, but I can't do Wednesday well until at least January( I have grad classes.) I would love to have a ride on a tues or Thurs. Also as of right now all I have is a crossbike(mt. bike needs to healed), so should be interesting, Roseryville is definately doable though on a cross, maybe some parts slower.
