Casual Rosaryville Ride
Pace: Casual
Difficulty: Easy but longer ride (8+ miles or if desierd can drop off after 1/2 loop)
Contact: Dharma: 202.271.0773 or ddill<at>alumni.virginia.edu
Location: Rosaryville Park, MD
Want to ride Saturday but the rocky more advanced Gambrill ride is biting off a little more than you can chew? I hear yeah! That’s why I’m leading an easier more beginner friendly ride. Come join me and ride the roller coaster single track at Rosaryville… wheeee! :D
Where: Rosaryville (http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1198). For those that are visual - here's a MAP (http://maps.google.com/?q=8714+Rosaryville+Rd,+Upper+Marlb oro,+MD+20772&ie=UTF8&z=13&ll=38.801858,-76.830482&spn=0.09418,0.21698&om=1). Ignore the green arrow on the West side of the park. To gain access use entrance on the EAST side, make a right turn into the entrance just south of Osborne Road while traveling south on U.S. 301. Take a right at park map kiosk to go up hill. Kiosk trail parking lot is first on the right.
When: Saturday, November 4th. Meet 10:00 am, ride 10:15 am (yes, I will be on time!)
Terrain: Some technical sections will require beginners to dismount, but intermediate riders should find most sections rideable and challenging.
Pace: Casual. A no drop ride, we can determine if multiple groups are necessary based on turnout.
Park Fee: Cost for park access is $3 per Md. car and $4 per out of state vehicle. There are envelopes at the Kiosk when you enter. Ride in access is free so if desired park at the nearby shopping center and ride in.
Post-ride: For those interested, we can head over Texas Ribs & BBQ (http://www.texasribsandbbq.com/) (thanks, Dan for suggesting!). Here are directions (http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=7701+Old+Branch+Ave,+Cli nton,+MD+20735&saddr=8714+Rosaryville+Rd,+Upper+Ma rlboro,+MD+20772+(Rosaryville)&f=li&ie=UTF8&z=13&ll=38.777774,-76.850224&spn=0.094212,0.161018&om=1) from the park to the Restaurant
Can someone please post this on the calendar?
Thanks!
Dharma

Hey I'm in I've always wanted to check out this trail. I'll try to be in early =)
looks like sunny and cold weather sat.
I just wanted to clarify that I love gambrill but I just think that place doesn't like me back, I've had too many crashes there to enjoy it anymore :(

If I can clear up my morning, I'll be there; I didn't get out last weekend and I have a major case of home-and-office fever.
I'll be in a red Audi w/ roof rack.

Sounds like a good group is forming. BBQ is the plan for afterwards, right?

I'm sure you wont be horribly dissapointed that I cannot make it
I'm gonna be riding Sunday, if I get my bike fixed, still no spd's, front flat tire, and only just getting over from being horribly sick :(
Have fun.

Hmm, sounds like I need to invest in some winter gear...post haste!
I rode Schaeffer the other day; it was ~40 when we hit the trail...I had on the following:
Upper body: poly t-shirt, long sleeve cotton shirt (got wet and chilly under my camelbak), and a polar fleece pullover (took that off after 15-20 minutes)
Lower body: poly shorts...that is all
My ears and hands were cold, as I had fingerless gloves and just a helmet.
Forecast looks like 38 at 9 a.m. and 45 by 12 p.m...that sounds doable. If I have time tonight, I'll swing by my LBS and/or EMS for some winter gloves and an earband or balaclava(sp?)..and maybe some warmer legwear. Otherwise, I'll make the call based on tomorrows morning doggy walk. There's a direct relationship between the temps and how hard it is to drag the pooch out the front door. :p
CRAIG2

The Performance brand triflex tights do a pretty good job; good socks (wool is best (such as SmartWool)) are a must, as are decent gloves. Avoid anything cotton. As long as your ears, fingers, and feet are warm, you're usually pretty well off. I picked up a pair of Sugoi long finger gloves at the Bike Lane which are pretty nice, and not too bulky. Of course, a quality balakava (sp?) is always a good investment, and very versatile.
And layer, layer, layer.

That is chilly - I'll definitely be stopping by the store afterwork!

impossible. if you drop it'll be sideways from a total lack of momentum because I am going so s...l......o.........w ;)
in all seriousness, it will be a completely casual beginner friendly ride. if there's turnout and interest - we can create a moderate group!

Excellent! I'm still sore from a kick boxing class earlier this week (I guess I'm getting old :( ) so easy is good. BTW I'll be on the black cannondale. I suppose parking is obvious and I should be able to find you guys easy enough?

Sorry I missed the ride, but I had a pseudo-emergecy at home (ie: squirrel fell down the chimney as I was walking out the door). I commented to my fiancee that he's now going anywhere until I get back; she wasn't having that for an answer. :p
30 minutes later, I opened the flu, let Rocky dart for the door I left open for him, and I missed the ride. :/ Ahh well, next time...what time is the trailwork starting this Sat?...maybe I can get a quick lap in before swingin the saw. :D

Trail work normally begins about 0930. We normally do a one lap ride before and/or after depending on how much Dave "The Trail Master" works us. I and at least one friend will be doing a pre-work lap, beginning NLT 0815.
There will also be a fancy pants picnic sponsored by eric_blomquist@hotmail.com aka brcire here on the MORE boards. Well, not really sponsored by him, but you know what I mean. See the post here:
