Hey all,
I'm heading up north this weekend with some buddies and we're planning a nice Rothrock ride on Saturday. We already have a sweet route planned, and we've been there many times before (every year for the past six or so). Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else might be up that way or have some interest in the riding up there. It's an awesome place to ride and I look forward to it every year (no to mention the other distractions that always accompany the "guys" weekend).
We're riding Tussey Ridge this year, which we've never done. Should be a good time. :D

Is Rothrock same as Lychens? It's hunting season and Lychens is only open on Sundays - I don't know Rothrock. Don't get shot.

That town is going to be Cuh-RAY-zee this weekend on account of homecoming. Good luck to you. ;)
Rothrock is an awesome place to ride. I grew up 30 minutes from there, but didn't start biking until I moved here. Now I ride there whenever I'm home visiting the folks. Enjoy.

I think it's been bow season for a few weeks and inline muzzle-loader season starts this weekend for deer. So there could be some hunters in tham thar woods.
We'll stay away from State College though, we have our own partying to do... :D

Don't forget a) a small shovel to recover geocached items and b) your $500 lighting system for night rides. wink wink nudge nudge.

Otto's on N. Atherton has good eats and their own Micro brew.
U guyz campin?
Growing up there, who knew that Rothrock was a mtn bkn mecca? To us it was just a good place for underage keggers. Lessons of a misspent youth.

LOL! We don't need the shovel, as the "geocache" is in Mt. Rogers NRA in southwestern Virginia, somewhere near the town of Damascus. And unfortunately I won't be needing my 6,000,000,000 candle power lighting system (three HID's and four Luxeon LED's on the bar, plus a double HID on the helmet, with a small portable fission reactor behind the seat for power). I doubt we'll have time for nite riding, what with all the beer, whisky, food, porn, fireworks, potato gun, lighted horseshoes etc. going on.

No, we're staying in a double-wide (DA DUBBAWIDE) usually used as a hunting cabin. It's near Mt. Union, with the Juniata River right there for fishing and Jack's Mountain available for from-the-cabin rides. And Rothrock is about 45 minutes to an hour's drive, depending on whether we go in from the southeast (Greenwood Furnace State Park) or the northwest (Tussey ski area).
Indeed, Rothrock is da bomb. There are some great trails up there.

I guess one could become particularly forgetful with some types of caching. Next thing you know i'll be riding my tires backwards and forgetting my head gear :D Have fun this wknd, meng...i want stories.

Oh shiite! I forgot all about the front tire, thanks for the reminder. And BTW, we're riding up in Fredneck tomorrow morning around 9ish for a weekend send-off ride. Interested?
