It was my bright idea to start new FORUM threads each month so that the individual threads did not get so filled up. Although it has seemed to work for the Wakefield rides, the lack of interest in this FORUM has led me to ponder the wisdom of that idea for the MD ride.

Folks seem to prefer posting to the "Schaeffer Night Ride 9-21-06 ". (115 posts and growing)

I checked the calendar and there is only one official posting for legal night riding at Schaeffer. (Although it is broken up into 3 skill levels). I even checked the date of 9-21-06 and "YUP" - It was a Thursday. My original goal was to try and contain the size of the stickies to a managable level. If folks would rather post to a FORUM titled "Schaeffer Night Ride 9-21-06 " then so be it. (Although I have to admit that I find it confusing - But maybe that's the point)

Should this Sticky go away????

Larry, you are confusing me :D . But, there are two different rides going on here. I think your Idea is good for the regular ride. But I think people are using the night one so not to confuse it with the regular one. Which I think is dead for the year or close to it :confused: . or they are hard headed and like to make things confusing? David

Okay, I'll try to answer this...

The issue is not the new Forum threads, those are fantastic. Rather, the official "Thursdays at Schaeffer" seem to have ended for the season, since it now gets dark about the time everyone gets off work on Thursdays.

The Night Rides are separately scheduled and organized. I believe there are only two left: October 26 and November 9. Schaeffer is closing on November 25th for hunting :mad:.

I think that the best solution (though I defer to the Schaeffer Night Ride Czar) would be to start a new thread "Schaeffer Night Rides 06" and transfer the latest posts (#96 on) on the October 26th ride into that thread. You're absolutely right, the 9-21-06 thread title is confusing. MyOtherBrother, can you make that change? I only have those privileges within the Women's forum.

First, sorry for the confusion, but as Crash stated the regular Thursday and the night rides are/were two completely different rides. The night ride required an RSVP per our agreement with the park service. The regular after work ride is just that, anyone can show up and ride. That is the main reason we separated the threads.

Now that it's dark at 5 I doubt there will be anymore "regular" Thursday after work rides. Also, we only have one more night ride on the books for Nov. 9th. We may be able to get one or two more scheduled, but that remains to be seen. So my question to you is how would you like me to post any future "Night" rides. Would you like me to start a new thread for each ride? I know the title may be a little confusing but the one thread has worked and people seem to understand when the rides are. Maybe we can just change the title. Just tell me how you would like the threads to be handled and I am more than happy to comply.

I did understand that there were two different rides. I thought creating a Sticky called "Thursday's at Schaeffer" would be a great idea. It would be a catch all for both rides (Especially given the frequency of the one and the certain demise of the other). At a minimum it was definitely more descriptive than the 9-21-06 title indicated (And I see that it HAS been changed).

ANYWAY - If you guys are happy with this, then I'm happy with this.

And next time - I'll try (Notice I said TRY) to stay out of it.

No need to stay out of it and apologies are not necessary. The "catch all" is a good idea, however, we ran into a problem when both rides were under one thread. There was lots of confusion as to which ride questions were being asked. The poster had to be very specific so as not to get bad info. Hence the two threads. Anyway, we really don't have to worry about it too much anymore as the regular ride is done for the season....basically, I think??

I will start a new thread for the next (hopefully couple) night ride(s). Also, I 'll just title it "Schaeffer Night Ride" and not put a date. This way the old thread can go the way of president Bush's approval rating :eek:
