Its been years since Ive been bike shopping. I bought a Gary Fisher Big Sur back in 99. About four months after buying it I broke my leg in three places, I had a metal rod inserted in my leg and pretty much gave up biking. Maybe I lost my nerve, maybe it was the three surgeries but it sat in my garage all these years. I brought it out of retirement this year but realized I'm not as comfortable on this bike as I was all those years ago. From what Ive read and it was true back then, the GF geometry works better at faster speeds and worse at slower speeds. And since I'm way more of the latter now, I thought Id research some other frames.

I've been riding the bike about three times a week and getting most of my confidence back but I know this isnt the bike for me. That accident left me with a bad knee, bad ankle, and bad hip, so I'm looking for something stable and more comfortable. If anyone has ideas I'm listening. I'm not looking at anything entry-level and willing to pay for the right bike.

Thanks.

I'd recommend the Trek Fuel. There's about a half-dozen different models from the entry level Fuel 70, through the EX series, to the Top Fuels, depending on how much you want to shell out. However, they are all extremely stable and forgiving platforms and having the FS should make your ride more comfortable.

Ummm,

I have had two bigger crashes resulting in broken bits of body, both times I never rode the bike I crashed on again, instead they got sold. Both times were an excuse for an upgrade.
