i almost pulled the trigger on a sc nomad until i saw the 07 specialized enduro dual crown. im getting on my own nerves on buying an all purpose bike now, but 3+g's for a bike, i want to get this right.lik ive said in my previous posts i like to ride more downhill and some freeride now, but want something i can ride xc. is the nomad and enduro(not carbon) similar bikes?will the enduro take the abuse the nomad will?

Have you looked at the Trek Session line? They're supposed to be VERY peddalable... (sp?)

I would reccomend the nomad over the 07 enduro. The session might be abit heavy for all purpose use. Look into the remedy instead

I wouldn't trust any component like that the first year they are out. They might be the best thing since sliced bread, but I'd wait for someone else to do the testing on them.
The Nomad looks like a great bike. I'd also take a look @ the Intense 6.6; I've heard a lot of good things about them (except for the potential bearing problems)

Yeti 575 or 07 Spec'd Enduro SL. They'll take anything you can throw at them around here. All of the new Enduro SL bikes are below 30lbs. Starting price is $2800 for the comp model. The aluminum frame/fork/wheels setup is also $2800.
I'm ordering myself one of these as soon as they are available (month or so). It's just a question of carbon or aluminum.
And by the way, I've ridden that bike and don't worry about drops. I rode it with full-face and armor at Northstar last month and it is most worthy. Spare yourself the overbuilt, heavy bike and go with an enduro SL.
I've first-yeared the last three years of Spec'd technology and have yet to be bitten. I haven't had an issue yet.
Good luck.

Other more common bikes in this catagory are the giant reign (kicks ass) 06 spec'd endro (also kicks ass) Jamis dakar xlt (nice) gary fisher cake dlx (looks good but not my cup of tea) and the gt idrive 5.0 (havent ridden but looks good). These are all good all mountain bikes and will handle freeriding nicely as well as trails like sheaffer.

Try a titus Motolite with Fox talas 36 fork, and fox dh air5.o shock. That would be right at 30lbs. it would be able to pedal up hills with ease, and handle any downhill stuff around here. Dave M.

They're both 6"+ travel bikes, and the motolite is 4/5" of travel, so they're not really comparable.
Also, there are a bunch of downhill/freeride trails around here that I wouldn't think about regularly taking the Motolite on.

The 2007 Enduro SL bikes aren't in-country yet. We'll have them as soon as they are, though.
