They have a good reputation as far as suspension seat posts go (in fact, I think most people consider them among the best). MTBR (http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/suspension_seatpost/) lists 406 reviews with an overall 4.6 rating (out of 5), which is pretty damn good. I have ridden stoker on Petes tandem, which has a thudbuster on it. It works, although its a bit strange not having any rebound damping, since it springs back up pretty fast. What sort of riding do you want it for?

On my Klein HT. It helped some, but it wasn't for me in the end. Definitely not the same as a FS. The lack of rebound dampening caused a few catapult issues.

If you have a 31.6 SP, I could let you ride mine to see if you like it w/o shelling out the big bucks for it.

I highly recommend that thudbusters. The design and craftsmanship are both excellent. I use the short travel thudbuster on my commuter rig and it's really quite nice. I've never ridden the long travel one, but have heard nothing but good stuff about them. They come with different elastomers with varying firmnesses...and the long travel one uses 2 elastomers so you can kinda adjust the rebound and compression. Cane Creek is just a very cool company as far as I'm concerned....and their products are inovative and last over time.

Well I'll just have to get one I guess and if I dont like it you'll see it up here in a couple weeks.
Mostly I ride fountainhead, quantico and I try to get out to Charlottesville for sherando and some of the ridges out there (my next bike will be a FS)
Thanks for the suggestions. (I have a 27.2)

If you are ordering from Performance, note that they have a 20% off orders over $100 coupon (http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=217381) in effect. 6002324

I've got one for my Klein hardtail. It does take some getting used to, but it's definitely a very good suspension seatpost. My suggestion would be to set it up a bit on the stiff side to prevent the "catapult" effect. I initially set mine up way too soft and it darn near launched me over the handlebars.

I have a spare 27.2 Thud sitting in my parts bin. You are free to borrow it for testing, before you spend your money. PM me for details, if interested.

This was one of the first upgrades I bought when I first started riding.
I think I got it before I evan went clipless.

As far as holding up, its one of the only things on the bike I havent broke yet.
If your pushing the weight limit on the stock elastomers you'd better splurge for the stiffer ones. I had the catapult effect too until I did.
