I just got a pair of Nevegals for my bike. Of the front and rear edges of the center knobs, one is squared and the other is ramped. The sidewalls have a rolling direction indicator, which would arrange it so that when the knob is in contact with the ground, the squared-off edge is facing forward, the ramped edge facing rearward.
I have always assumed that the rotation should be set so that front tires bite best for braking, and rear tires bite best for acceleration. Given this, it seems to me that the rolling direction indicated on the sidewall makes sense for mounting in the front (as the squared off edge would bite during braking) but not for the rear (where during acceleration you would be trying to grab with the ramped edge).
Any thoughts on the subject?
