Anyone interested in doing some shuttling at the Shed this Sunday? I was thinking about starting in the late afternoon sometime, like around 5 or 6, and riding at a somewhat beginner/intermediate (as far as DH goes) pace.
I've never done this before, (at the Shed) so I will need to rely on a veteran to lead the DH runs. I do have a truck that can probably carry 4 or 5 bikes, so that aspect should be taken care of.
If anyone would like to participate, please let me know as soon as possible.
Brian
P.S. Some delicious Mexican food / beers might be in order afterwards, too.

what time would you be going and if you go, would a 5" travel bike be appropiate? I'm no slouch going downhill and have riden the Shed and Gambrill a lot. Just wondering if we'll be hitting 8' drops, etc.

As far as time goes, I'm pretty flexible... I would like to go in the late afternoon, though, and get as many runs in as possible. As for what bike you ride... Let's put it this way. I'll be taking my Cove Stiffee, so I seriously doubt I'll be hitting any 8' drops. I'm sure 5" will be plenty. :D

I've got family obligations in the late afternoon. If I go, I'd have be done by 3. But don't base it around me. I'll get back there another time.

Would a singlespeed hardtail be ok for the ride? I have found i can pick my way through dh sections better with my stp then my reign.
:edit: i just remembered im going down to va beach either tomorow or saturday and i will not be able to make it.

Well I know EYE wouldn't be hitting any 8 footers, thats fer sher!! Brian, regarding a route...I can point you to a very, very disgusting dh trail with a massive boulder tranny drop and numerous other sick features...but I will not be riding it. I've traversed the trail twice in my life...and I can only clear about the first 100 yards  The rest of it I walk...and it's so steep that my legs give out about 2/3 of the way down....but YOU'RE welcome to ride it :D Punga, have you ridden that'n?
I've never shuttled before but kinda like the idea of not having to grind myself all the way out from the deepest depths.

I'd love to go but I can't commit. As I mentioned in an email Christine would like to go hiking if I ride but since she's pregnant it all depends on how she feels Sunday afternoon. You know how it goes. Later afternoon, early evening - 5ish is probably better since it will be cooler. We'll see. I'll call you and let you know. I think you posted you cell number around here somewhere....
Dave.

Sorry for anchoring the ride so much today. I figured out the problem-- it WAS the headset. I took it apart when I got home and the bottom cartridge was coming apart. Put the old set back in and I'm totally legal. Let's do these runs again....was nice to have a ride outta the gallows instead of having to hump it. Nice meeting folks, too.

Yeah, good times today! Don't worry about your mechanical... It happens. RT broke his chain after you left and we had to spend a good while fixing that too.
I guess I was having so much fun, I forgot to take any more pictures. But, here is the one I did take of Dave...

Yea, his chain sounded like it was about to go a few times at the top of the trail. How many runs did you get in total?

We did that same run one more time and then went over and did a run down one of the drop trails. So we got 3 in, total. The drop trail was kick-ass. I think I could spend all day just doing those. :D

Yeah, I appreciated you showing us around. Next time I'd like to check out some more of the drop trails, though.
The arm is alright, just a bit sore today. The rest of my body is sore too, though. I guess I didn't realize how bad that crash really was.
Hey, I meant to ask you... What chainguide are you using?

Sounds like you guys had a good ride. I hope I can make the next one. I think my hand is finally up to taking the poinding.. I've got to get some more rides in on my Vp_free so I don't feel so bad about dropping the cash on it...

Yeah, definitely. We need to get back up there. I haven't been up there in months. I was a little worried when we started up the drop trail and I didn't recognize them because there were leaves on the trees. (if that tells you anything.)
The guide is an E13-DRS. Probably the best dual ring guide made. I've not dropped the chain since it's been installed.

You could always loan it to me. I'd take real good care of it I promise. ;)

Yeah, I was just looking at those. They seem unbelievably spendy for what they are. The cheapest I have found so far, is $140!!!

Jenson has them for 123. http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/CH409Z07-E-13+Drs+Chain+Retention+System.aspx
I got mine at SpeedGoat for 140 but shipping was free and it was here the next day. (they are just over the boarder in PA)
