Another lesson in MTB came about 2 weeks ago when I invited a friend to ride on the Thursday night ride at PF Park. I was pumped, a new set of wheels, plenty of rest, an earlier dose of carbs and ready to pedal. About 8-10 riders had already shown up and my friend shows up also ready to ride. But there was a gliche.
His left eye was blurred but he decided to ride anyway. I told him we would take it slow, we didn't have to keep up with the group. As we rode, we hooked up with 2 other riders and kept a pretty good pace. As I turned around to see how my friend was doing, I noticed he was gone. We backtracked alittle and there he was sitting in the leaves looking crosseyed. He had hit his head on a limb overhead and it threw him off the bike. He said with his blurred vision he was starting to see double and didn't know which limb to avoid. Once he recovered we removed this large limb wraped in yellow ribbon away from the trail.
Sometimes it's not what's on the ground that'll get ya.
