Hi I am new to this area and would like to go riding. I dont know where any trails are and even if I did its probably not very safe to go out alone. I heard there was an all girl ride on Tuesday evenings. I talked to a girl named Karen last night and she said there at a place called Poor Farm Park. I was wondering ifanyone could give me directions and tell where you all meet. I am really excited to get back on my bike.
Thanks .

Are you located in the DC area? Poor Farm is in Ashland just north of Richomnd. If you live in DC it would be too long of a drive. If you are in the Richmond Area, then there is a large group that rides at Poor Farm every Tues.
Directions:
The Poor Farm Park is located at 13400 Liberty School Road, Ashland, VA 23005. The Park is 15 minutes north of Richmond. Directions are as follows:
Directions from the West: Past Short Pump in Richmond. I-64 to Rockville/Manakin exit, head North on Ashland Road Rt. 623, pass over Nuckols Road, heading North for several miles, cross over Rt. 33, continue for a few more miles. Bear Left onto Blanton Road Rt. 666 (this is a fork, not a full turn, watch for oncoming traffic). Come to a stop sign at Rt. 54, turn Left heading West, go 1 mile see sign for Poor Farm, turn Left.
Directions from the East: 64 East, 295 West, 95 North, take exit 92 North follow the rest below.
Directions from Richmond: Interstate 95 North to exit 92 (Ashland, VA). Go West on Rt. 54, through Ashland, about 4 miles. The road will be on your left, but look for the small brown sign on your right. There will be a left-turning lane for the access road. That road dead-ends into the park. Wind all the way around to the back.

Usually around 6pm in the gravel parking lot. There usually is around 10 or so folks there. Not sure if I will make it this week but it is a go this tuesday. You should go to the Richmond-MORE forum and check it out.Welcome to the area and have a good one.
Downtown Richmond has some good trails also.

If you're interested, Anne Morgan in Richmond leads women's rides (the Washington-area Ride Like a Girl is modeled after the Richmond chapter). She just posted up the next ride:
Hello Ladies!
I'm announcing the next Saturday Ride Like a Girl! The ride will be for all levels with separate ride leaders for different abilities. Malissa gratiously volunteered to host this ride and will be heading up my leadership duties. Please address all specific questions about this ride Malissa at mrhundley(at)yahoo(dot)com or e-mail me and I will forward on questions if needed. I will be out of town racing at Snowshoe that weekend and am very grateful to have some wonderful volunteers that wanted to plan a July RLAG.
When: Saturday July 22nd 10:00 am
Where: Pocahontas State Park ($4 parking fee at gate) Meet at the Heritage Center dirt lot
What: All levels ride - Beginners to advanced all welcome.
Intermediate and advanced riders will probably be riding the new 5 mile loop in the park. So if you haven't heard about it or rode it yet, here's your chance.
I'm also planning on doing an August RLAG late in the month.
