My teammates at 24 hrs of Big Bear claimed that Whitetail has once again opened up for mountain biking and downhilling, lifts open and all. He said that Snowshoe bought out Whitetail and has/is putting in a whole stunt park like Snowshoe has. He said it was on their website, along with the whole story of the buyout etc. However Whitetail's website has only Golf Fly fishing and skiiing as the three entry points, and Showshoe's website has no mention of Whitetail.
This came from someone who lives in Hagerstown/Martinsburg and owns a downhill rig. Anyone caught word of this?

Here is what I have heard: Others please chime in if this is out of date.
There are 2 DH races and a DS race at Whitetail, the weekend of the 23-25 of June. Depending on factors like racer turn out, revenues, etc., Whitetail may reopen to MTBs. As far as I know this is test run and is the only weekend they have scheduled for DH bikers this year.
Moral of the story, if you want lift assist riding, freeride park, snowshow-esq riding with in 1 hour of DC, get your butt to Whitetail and represent the interests of your fellow DH riders and maybe just maybe if we are lucky it will become a reality.
Here's a link to the scheduled events

I doubt Whitetail would describe things that way. But hopefully, if the mountain is covered with bikes over that weekend, it will raise interest in reviving regular MTB access during the warm months.

Here-here! Arguably the most important event for all area offroad riders this season. The resources available at a reopened Whitetail will make the trail situation in these parts better for everyone. Less TTF pressure on public lands EQUALS happier land managers...

He said that Snowshoe bought out WhitetailHuh? I sure hope not. SnowTime Resorts currently owns Whitetail, Liberty, and Roundtup. I really hope your friend was mistaken.
There's nothing about this on the DCSki forum. Regardless, I hope to show my support that weekend too.
Found this on Snowshoe's site, looks like they're both having races the same weekend:
June 23 - 25

Found this site announcing the return of Whitetail.
Couldn't find any reference on City Bikes site but the race is City Bikes Capital Cup.

Mike, Dan,
Let's bring this thread back from the dead. It's been a few months since the race. How was it and did it make the desired impact? Any good rumors to feed to the mill? Is there any hope of getting this place open again?
