We are a month out from the City Bikes Capital Cup event at Whitetail. Check out www.racersedgeonline.com for details. It's June 23-25 and will have DH, SuperD and slalom/4x racing (not sure if it's Slalom or 4x).
This is the perfect chance to go out and ride stuff that we are trying to build at local parks. Although this stuff may be a bit bigger, it's the same stuff. This will be a great event. Cannondale, Specialized and Jamis (at least) will be out there with bikes (including long-travel stuff) for the events.
If you've never ridden this type of stuff, this really will be great. Bring your xc bike, your FR bike, DJ, whatever! A lot of this stuff can be ridden on a rigid singlespeed, if you are a good rider.
The DH race is real-deal, big drop, high speed stuff. The SuperD is more about diffucult xc-style trail that goes down hill. You can rock it on 3-6" travel bikes (or rigid). The slalom race is all about quick acceleration and turning with jumps. Great for stout short travel FS bikes or any kind of hardtail.
All of the runs will be open on Friday with racing on Saturday and Sunday so you don't have to worry about racing on a course you've never ridden. Also, the fee to ride ($100, I think) includes race registration whether you race or not so you have total freedom to do whatever.
City Bikes is a huge sponsor of this event and we will be there supporting our riders and anybody else there. We will have some bikes to ride/rent (Yeti, Specialized, Jamis) as well as fixing stuff and spare parts.
Check out www.racersedgeonline.com and shoot me or them questions. See you there!

I just got an email from racers edge saying their not having a super d race :( :( . I am still goin up to ride and watch. is the entry fee is only if u want to race or do u have to pay it just to enter the mountain? Also since u guys are bringin demo bikes. is there any way to get a p.2 cr-mo up there. Im lookin for an urban/dj bike and that is one of my top picks and id love to test it out (if u dont already have it in store)

We won't have a p2 cromo there. Sorry. The fees cover getting on the mountain and racing.

I'm going to be in Maine on Bidness. I thought the snow race there in March was very well run and a whole lot of fun. I was really looking forward to the DH race.
Wait why am I mad? I'm going to Maine. Can you say Lobsta?

Will these be demo bikes or rentals, or what? Regardless, I am going to try to make this. I'll probably be bringing some buddies too.

I have to look in to our insurance liability for 'renting' vs 'test ride' to answer that. The important thing is that we will have bikes to ride, one way or the other.
Bring ID and credit card plus some cash if we need collateral. I'll post info when I get it.

Saturday June 24, 2006
3:00pm DH race #1 of the City Bikes Capital Cup.
Sunday June 25, 2006
1:00pm City Bikes Capital Cup DH Race #2/ Maryland State Championship.
Just for clarification...is DH race #1 on Saturday qualifying and then DH race #2 on Sunday the finals (i.e. US Open format?) or are these two separate races?
Thanks!

I thought there was a SuperD and DH race, but I'm not sure. It looks like they are just doing 2 dh races instead of the SuperD. I think it's different categories, but it's hard to say.

It's almost time to start trash-talking...

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. See you there, matey.
A pirate walks into a bar with a ship's steering wheel shoved down his pants. Bartender says, 'Hey, you know you've got a ship's steering wheel down your pants?'
Pirate says,' Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr, it's drivin' me nuts!'
heh.
