This Saturday RLAG does the Shed, led by Becky.
Pace/ Terrain: This is not a ride for beginners! Pace will be Casual and the technical difficulty is Intermediate to Advanced. If you have any questions about your ability to do this ride, please post to this thread and we will do our best to answer.
Where: We will meet at the Hamburg Road parking lot.
Directions to Hamburg Rd. parking lot, Frederick Watershed
270 north to Frederick
Take exit for I-70 and stay in left exit lane to follow I-70 west.
3 miles take Braddock Heights / Alt. Rt 40 exit
End of ramp bear right onto Alt 40.
3/4 mile turn left onto Blentlinger Rd (immediately after white house)
1 mile dead end at Rt 40 and turn left
Stay on Rt 40 for 3 miles and turn right on Gambrill Park Rd.
At the top of the hill, turn right to stay on Gambrill Park Rd
Follow Gambrill Park Rd. for 5 miles then turn right onto Hamburg Rd.
1/2 mile down on the right is the parking lot.
The Ride: It will be a casually-paced ride. 1-2 hour first loop from Hamburg Road out towards Gambrill, then down the Cable Vision Trail and back to Hamburg. It is technical, but not as hilly and technical as most other areas. From there, any rider who wants to can continue on another 1-2 mile loop from Hamburg Road out the blue trail which is very technical and hilly.
What to Bring: All riders MUST wear a helmet (no lid, no ride), bring water, and have a trail-ready bike. Riders should also carry the usual basics: spare tube(s), a pump, tire levers, a chain tool, and basic allen wrenches.
Leaders: If you are interested in leading future rides please let me know! You don't have to commit for the entire season, just one or two rides would be very helpful. And all leaders get a nifty Ride Like a Girl baseball cap!
I will be in the parking lot before the ride with coffee, etc., starting about 9:30
