View Full Version : Women and the MORE jerseys

So, do any of the ladies here have thoughts on a ladies version of the MORE jersey? I'm not sure, but I don't think I've ever seen a woman, other than myself, wearing such a beast.

I tried on a slightly too small jersey at the winter party a year ago. It was jaw dropping. I ran Scud off. Directly across the bosom, in huge black letters it says
M O R E
across a white stripe.

Would anyone here care for a slightly less blatant women's version of the jersey? Jason said I could redesign a women's version, but I never got around to doing it. Is there enough interest to make it worthwhile? Would anyone like to take the effort to do that?

You need to put a warning on your post "Do not attempt to eat or drink while reading". I laughed so hard, I ended up nearly wedging a piece of my PB&J sandwich in my sinuses.

Pactimo willwork with you to create a design or work off of something you come up with on your own. It'll run about $40 an hour for the setup/design in any event.

I think the Board would also need to look over the design which shouldn't be a big deal. (The new design was approved in a matter of hours.)

After that you just need a total of 5 orders and you'll be good to go. I can pass along the contact info I have for Pactimo if you'd like.

If you were to get this done in time you may be able to have it finished in time for the order that is in the early stages of planning.

Provided that we find another way to put MORE out there, I'd be interested in buying one.

OK, that does it. After riding today, "manning" the MORE booth at the Trailfest, and on my way to ride in MD, I made a quick stop at the grocery store for some Diet Pepsi. As I strode across the parking lot in my MORE jersey, some mangy looking guy in the parking lot coming the other way said, "Mmmmmm MORE!"

No matter what the circumstances, I will NOT wear that MORE jersey off the trail, even if it's en route between trails!

If someone can get me the drawings for the original jerseys and the contact information for the manufacturer, I can do a quick re-design. I think it will mean submitting an order separate from the jersey order currently being taken....

Could someone post a picture of the old jersey, just so I can see what Liz is volunteering to re-design? Thanks.

I don't have the artwork. I was given pdfs of the old stuff from Joe. I then emailed that to Pactimo and they created the new design for us based on the old one. They worked with me to make the desired changes in color etc...

Now THAT'S funny. :p Perhaps a little awkward for you, :o but a great story none the less.

I wish I would have thought of that. Maybe I will have my wife try mine on when I get it and use this on her! ;) NOT!!!

Ah jeez, I can see why my well-endowed sisters might wanna rethink the placement of MORE. Even we not-so-blessed girls probably shouldn't wear this design. Great colors, though. Liz and Squirrel, let me know if I can be of any organizational help.

Jeez . . . this reminds me of a personal beef of mine. I don't have any photos to back up my complaint(which is probably a good thing.) Anyway, my college team was sponsored by Mercury. The placement of a few 1 1/2" diameter Mercury logos on the jersey arms was innocuous enough. When it came to the shorts, though, some Einstein-in-training decided to place the small, dark, circular logo square in the middle of the lighter-colored patch of fabric running across the seat! I mean, my mind is always in the gutter, but it seems like nobody is THAT clueless.

It was good motivation to take a pull whenever you possibly could. Pacelining isn't much fun, even when you're not staring down a queue of sphincteresque graphics.

Hey,

Any headway on the newly designed MORE jersey for women? I don't have artsy skills, but I can help with admin stuff (ordering, etc).

I'd be willing to redesign the jersey, but I'd like to get a collection of ideas that everyone (by everyone I mean women, not looking for dude feedback) would be looking for. From my (male) experience it seems like most women aren't a fan of flowers and other steroetypically girly things, feminine yes.

So start posting any ideas you think you would like or wouldn't like and we can go from there.

So are we looking to design a long sleeve full zip jersey (like in SG's photo), or a tank, or what?

Let me see if I can figure out how to attach photos to posts... I have a couple ideas to bounce off of the group.

Squirrel Girl

You can use the same design for the different sleeve lengths. All you have to do is have an optional sleeve design that can be cut off for short or no sleeves.

Oh, yeah, and as much as I'd normally want to proudly wear my MORE jersey when I'm in CA and WA, I think I won't.......... Not until the new women's version comes out.

Ok, maybe the word "MORE" could go across the shoulders, like a player's last name on a football or basketball jersey. At least that gets it off of our boobs. I don't know how fancy of a shirt we're thinking about using here, but a two-tone shirt could work well. For instance, a shirt that is light blue on the front, and light blue across the shoulders (on the back, like the light blue goes over the shoulders to create a space for the surname-style letters), but dark blue on the back and kinda under the arms. I'll see if I can attach an example from REI or something. I'm not describing this two-tone shirt very well.

And/or, maybe the bike tire logo, with the word MORE (like in the web page header) could go on the front without seeming like an adjective. I'm thinking that if the logo was printed in say a dark blue on a light blue shirt that it wouldn't stand out and scream at viewers the way a black-on-white-banner does. I'm picturing the logo actually turned at an angle and off-center, like with the tire positioned in the right hip quadrant of the shirt, with the word MORE at like a 45 degree angle, like aiming toward the left shoulder.

I like that a lot! Can we change the colors or do we need to stick with blue?

I found two styles with words across the shoulders, and they're not printed on a fancy two-tone shirt.

Ok I'm having another idea as I'm looking at printed jerseys. How about if the wheel/tire part of the logo was on the shoulder, so like half of it was on the front and half of it on the back. If it was a long sleeve, part of the wheel would be on the shoulder of the sleeve, too. Does that make any sense? So if the wheel was on the left shoulder, the word MORE, all of this in a darker shade but of the same color as the shirt (blue, green, whatever), would angle down across the body toward the right hip. The words that go in a half-circle around the wheel would be on the back, curving around the wheel just like in the logo, basically starting at the collar and curving toward the armpit/sideseam.

Or the wheel logo could be placed on the side-seam, like under the arm, again so half is on the front and half on the back. The curve of the wheel would create a slimming effect at the waist.

But I don't expect you gals to design a jersey just so I can fit in it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to drop the ball on this, I was waiting to see what happened with the other Jersey order.

The previous order was placed thru Pactimo (http://www.pactimo.com) .

Here are the design guidelines (http://www.pactimo.com/downloads/upper_body_garments_template.pdf) .

Here is the design gallery (http://www.pactimo.com/design-gallery_gallery.htm) , to give you some ideas.

I'm sure when the design is done, it will fit on ALL sizes.

Allroy, I'm still happy to help... it looks like Pactimo does the actual artwork... I have all the logos in high-res, if you need them.

Oh geez I'm at it again. Looking at the old jersey, a simple redesign would be to take that horizontal black-and-white MORE and turn it vertical. Have it run from the top of the left shoulder to the bottom of the left hem. MORE will be written sideways. The vertical stripe continues over the shoulder and down the back, with the same wheel logo that is on there now. The colors can all stay the same. The arms can stay the same. There are several benefits to the vertical stripe, as opposed to the horizontal one:

The word MORE is no longer stretched across The Girls. It appears as more of a "graphic" than an "adjective";

The eye is drawn upwards, having a lengthening visual effect and making all of us look taller;

If you are over six feet tall and don't think you need a shirt that makes you look taller, I will also note that the vertical stripe makes us all look thinner, too.

If you think you are too tall AND too skinny, the rest of us probably wish we had your problem and don't want to hear you complain anyway. :D

The jersey has appeal, but I really like landscape graphics. Here are a couple jerseys. I REALLY like the Las Vegas ones, but they sold out of my size. The Cascade one is OK, not stellar, but it has that landscape look.

What landscape do we have here? Deciduous trees and logs across the trails. Ought to be workable. If I didn't have to get ready to leave town for 3 weeks, I'd scour around for "leaves" clip art and maybe a silhouette of a rider hopping some logs.

Here's another one:

Liz- I think the design you posted looks good. Like you said, it's a start. I wonder how it would look with the lettering turned like this:

O
R
E

I'll think some more over the weekend. I've got post-it notes all over my office now with shirt sketches. tee hee :)

I actually like the green cascade.org one. I like parts of all of them. In my fantasy world, I would combine what I thought was best from each and do that for us (with our logos/designs)

M

R

This could go down the sides like some of the jerseys have it.

You konw, if we do a really nice jersey, it wouldn't have to be just the "women's" jersey, it could be the "MORE" 2006 jersey. Everyone could have one and it would be such that it didn't make one gender feel uncomfortable wearing it.

Or we could make one and put butterflies or something on it and no man but Ricky would wear ours!
