Anybody doing the Massanutten DH race on the 13th of May? I'm 90% certain I'll be there and racing in the hardtail class. It will be my first real DH race. From what I hear it should be a good time.

I think that my wife and I will be camping out in nearby GWNF. Hopefully we'll get a good trail ride in on Sunday as well.

Yeah, I think I am. I have to figure out the bike situation as I need to get the rebound fixed on the 5th Element shock... again...

Here's hoping.

I need a few parts myself. At the very least a chainring and I'm debating getting a tensioner. I just rebuilt my bike only to find out that my chainrings are pretty tired.

I saw a guy on a Reign up there last year so it is doable. Apart from the beginning and the end sections, the course is pretty mellow by today's DH standards. That being said, I'd wear pads and bring a full face helmet if you have one. Thicker tubes/tires and sturdier wheels are also recommended. Perf in Fairfax has IRC Dh tires in their clearance area.

Also...don't forget to listen for 8" travel freight trains rolling down the hill behind you ;)

Hey, I'm famous! At least, I didn't see anyone else riding a Reign other than myself. Last year was my first race, and I managed to crash about 3 times, one of which required me to go to the hospital to get stitches after the race. BUT, not the bike's fault! Mainly crashed due to nerves and tiredness--places I crashed I had cleaned in practice runs. 'Course, there was a kid in the same class on a Warp, and he did a lot better than me
Anyway, the race is a ton of fun. And I hope to do better this year--I put a Fox 36 Van on my Reign, and it will be much better than the Nixon the bike came with. Nixon is a good trail fork, but not much of a downhill/freeride fork.

Edit: Oh man where is the 6 footer
here's some of myself on my '05 Reign 1.

The first one is just a small drop, the second is an almost 6 foot drop to tranny. The Reign is a beautiful bike!

I got the bike and I'm waiting on some other stuff that I'll need to race. I've got some issues with the whole 'Mother's Day' thing (my wife would kill me if she read that) so I'm still up in the air.

I'm riding an enduro SX trail. I've got to get some tires dialed in for the course but should be OK otherwise.

Me too. My wife's Grandmother is real sick (cancer, a few months to live kinda sick) We are debating going down to visit either this weekend or another one soon. Her family is a real pain in the ass so we might opt to go on a weekend that isn't as packed full of neurotic family members. Who knows what we'll end up doing but I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be in NC visiting and not in VA racing.

There'll be other races.
